Quote from: ONeill on June 30, 2025, 10:09:52 PMPaidi Clifford needs clipped. Maybe a clumsy tackle by Teague.

Work away, Paudie is well able for the hard stuff. David too.

History shows he isn't, especially against Stewartstown men. I'd worry about Kerry indiscipline.

It'll be interesting how the schedule hurts Galway. The games v Derry, Armagh and Down today were full pelt.

Quote from: ONeill on June 20, 2025, 10:50:29 PMSo what do Tyrone need to show that they can compete at the level Armagh are at?

I know we ran them close in the Ulster semi but I thought that scoreline flattered Tyrone.

More from the FF line outside of McCurry?
A higher percentage of success with kickouts?
More game time for proven winners like Hampsey, Meyler and Donnelly?

It's hard to know as we seem a bit lighter physically but then again in 21 the side just grew in confidence as the season progressed.

Having McKenna and McShane were handy back then too.

Armagh are getting a bit too much credit IMO.
They've lost twice in this year's championship like most other top teams.
They're as good as there is but they are no better in terms of performance or consistency than a handful of other top teams, Tyrone included.

Kerry are likely to meet Armagh in the quarter final. Armagh beat Kerry last year but Kerry will be rightfully asking internal questions on how it even got to extra time, and the bad luck of that shitty goal.

That's not to take away from Armagh. The winner wins but currently the margins hardly exist.

Or should Armagh be getting more credit? No team has beaten them comprehensively in a long, long time.

Thought Morgan was excellent today. Best player. Great to see Meyler on the field.

If Mayo beat Donegal (can happen) and Cavan beat Tyrone (can happen), then Donegal are out, which makes no sense atall.

Quote from: ONeill on May 31, 2025, 11:55:22 PMIs it fair to say that the new rules are not suited to Tyrone?

Seems to have weakened Morgan's strengths with kick-outs. When he had multiple options, short and long, he was able to bang it cleverly to someone down the middle. Now that it's a lottery whether he hits it long due to the number of bodies outfield, his accuracy is on the decline. In addition, we seem to be reliant on one man (BK) to field the ball.

I don't think that's true. Teams that were good under the old rules last year (Armagh, Donegal and Galway) are still the top teams. They've good squads and are well managed.

Tyrone lack a clear kick-out strategy. If I have to watch another Tyrone player point into empty space whilst the ball flies over his head to an unmarked player I'll cry. We got lucky Patton was injured last week, he'd have pulled our press apart.

What kick-out strategy do you envision? What's the kick-out strategy of those other sides?

Won a semifinal and final with no midfield . Takes some doing
