Not good enough. Unfortunately that's what we've come to expect. I'd say they are scrambling for grounds as we speak when it could have been done weeks ago.

Give North Antrim and St Endas the opportunity to deal with it and go to the police. Who was the referee? He will have it in his report. You can't miss something like that.

What date are senior leagues due to commence?

There was one yellow card missed I believe.

Dunloy player broke the line in the LHF position (later stages of the first half). Cushendall half back pulled him back by the forearm.

Ciaran blew for the free and went to his pocket but got distracted by something else. I believe, though could be wrong, he forgot to issue the yellow.

In an ideal world the game would have been played in decent conditions and as a result we would have witnessed a much better spectacle.

Teams train for almost a full year for this. They deserve better. A proactive County Board would have rescheduled the fixture...common sense.

The sliotar getting buried in the ground near the clubrooms summed the day up perfectly.

Nothing we can do now unfortunately.

1st penalty was for holding and Ciaran thought
Phelim Duffin was holding more than Joseph McLaughlin. Both players had their arms round each other. The Dunloy defenders disagreed. 2nd penalty was for absolutely nothing other than to even up the decision for the first. Ruck of players from both teams simply fighting for possession

Quote from: podge on October 20, 2024, 05:09:21 PMFrom the first 5 mins Cushendall just looked like they were handling the conditions that bit better and in truth should have won my more.

I thought a few of cushendalls less high profile players had big games- gillan, mccollam, McAfee, McQuillan.  A really well worked goal as well.  McGill did it again when he came on.

Most bizarre thing was how Cdall invited Dunloy on them in the last few minutes - looked like it was set up for a total sucker punch.

Agree. Was thinking Dunloy were sensationally going to win it with a goal in the last minute the way Cushendall were set up.

In contrast to your point, the Dunloy young guns were not quite ready for this level of championship hurling. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Quote from: Saffron71 on October 20, 2024, 04:52:42 PMGames like that are awful to play in.  Very difficult to hold onto a lead in those conditions unless you really go to town with the breeze in the first half.  When the wind is so strong it nearly always favours the team who has it in the second half as in alot of games it can take 10/15 mins to get settled into the game at the start.  Seemed to pan out that way today.

Agree wholeheartedly. Team with the wind first half are at a disadvantage due to the settling in period at the start of the game. 6 point lead was never going to be enough. Soft penalty kept Dunloy in it.

Wind ruined the game unfortunately. Just became 2 halves of keeper puck outs passing the 45m then incredibly blowing back inside it. Cushendall managed the conditions slightly better. 6 points wasn't a big enough lead at halftime. Felt for the players, near on impossible to hurl against the gale. Would love to have seen both teams going at it in better conditions.

Both keepers had great games, making vital saves and managing their puck outs. One even scored from what must have been 109+ metres.

You're correct on the lumping ball tactic. It failed repeatedly. The only defence of it was that Carey had an extra man and it was going to be tough to play through the lines for Glenariffe.

The free you refer to was a poor miss. In line with the left hand goal post and within a very manageable distance - wind supported.

Glenariffe will be back.

The reward for winning Intermediate Championship -  tankings next year in the Senior Championship and I'm guessing your management team jumping ship. Perhaps I'm being cynical.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on October 19, 2024, 05:45:44 PMHaving so many wides in the first half and not converting the one decent goal chance they had didn't help, the sending off I don't think changed the winner in the end.

Rocket is a proper club warrior and a great outlet for his team, as said on both ends of the pitch

Not the classic but Carey won't care too much, Eddie and go have been able to get them over the line. They were seconds from going out against Clooney in one of the best games I seen all year.

Hopefully they enjoy a good week's celebrations and re focus for the tough Ulster campaign where Antrim teams have not preformed as well

Double save from the Carey keeper from that Glenariffe goal chance was incredible.

Was the linesman alerted Skinny to the red card incident and the Glenariffe player involved didn't raise an eyebrow.

Carey well organised.

Think Colm was close enough in fairness but yeah didn't seem to be any complaints

He was to be fair. Missed nothing all day. Solid performance from the officials. Good playing surface, good crowd and atmosphere. Good day all round - unless you're from Glenariffe. They'll be disappointed with their performance.

Carey much the better team and full value for the win. Glenariffe were poor and couldn't find a way to win.

Rocket is an unbelievable player at both ends of the pitch. Dangerous in attack and pulled his defence out at the other end. Conor McBride Carey's most dangerous forward on the day.

Decent enough game but Glenariffe just didn't have that offensive threat.
