Armagh / Re: Armagh Club football & hurling
September 15, 2025, 01:02:36 PM
was up at the cruppen game and the turning point was the head stagger from the granemore keeper resulting in his sending off.
from then on cruppen were winning this game. UP until then Granemore were comfortable, 2 points up  and it could have gone either way
its bonus territory for cruppen but have to say they have been playing well all year so won`t be too afraid of Cross
that being said

Chuckling always remember Today FM the day after the 2005 all Ireland semi final talking about geezer looking on as Canavan scored the ridiculously soft free that Tyrone got to win it
Think paddy Russell was balancing out his shit show  in the 1995 all Ireland final
As the played the audio from the match they started the song
Fix you
( when you try so hard but you don't succeed ...)

So always remember that moment everytime I hear that song

Quote from: BigGreenField on July 23, 2025, 11:57:41 AMInter-county players drive over €600M into the Irish economy & create 4,200+ jobs, yet, on average, they're €4,600 out of pocket annually.
How do they drive it into the economy? There's no external investment into the GAA, bar a couple of flutes like yer man O'Leary and JP McManus.

Hotels , pubs ,restaurants , Chippys , trains , busses, o neills etc all gain from the intercounty season

Quote from: general_lee on July 16, 2025, 10:32:38 AMDoes anyone here actually know anyone in the Orange Order? I don't. But I can't begin to imagine having any sort of acquaintance that was a member and being able to take them serious.
know plenty
everyone will say ooh thats not us
every organisation has nutters
i don`t get it at all

on a side note fair play to NDCC, rather than withdraw the invitation from the gaa they just cancelled the camp impacting all  which reflects badly on the OO

Quote from: tyrone08 on July 10, 2025, 09:37:55 AMMcGeeney record as a manager is pretty horrible when setting aside the AI. For 5 years they never won a championship match, have been relegated multiple times, never won an ulster and he was badly found out when he sat and watched Kerry destroy their kick outs without changing anything.

https://www.irishnews.com/gaa/gaelic-football/kieran-mcgeeney-the-career-and-history-of-armaghs-manager-and-all-ireland-winner-EBYTZDBWQRFBJHXSAXKLSPDAWY/

I used to think the same but looking back now he got Armagh back competitive again and challenging and got us back to division 1 level.  Managers are judged on results and prizes of course but there is something to be said for a manager who can galvanise a squad, get them believing and buying into him. Nobody leaves the panel, nobody. He has also maximised the playing resources available to him based on slim pickings from underage.

And no overly strong Crossmaglen team to draw from.  2015 their last Ulster senior win and no Armagh team has reach the Ulster senior final since. Furthermore St. Patrick's Cullyhanna in 2023 was the first ever Armagh club to win the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship.
Mc geeney has gotten Armagh back at the top table
Underage is poor yet every year he finds one or two players.
He has done a fabulous job .

Quote from: bennydorano on June 26, 2025, 10:18:25 PMStrong looking Armagh team. No Soupy or Oisin O'Neill in the panel is a blow tho.
Agree
Good to see grimley  and mc Elroy starting as both have good engines and grimley can score from distance
Bench still looks strong although as you say no soupy or Oisín a blow

Sunday sales looking promising for a big crowd.
Hopefully weather stays  fine.
