Quote from: HonDerry on January 21, 2026, 11:19:05 PMEntertaining game tonight.
From a Derry squad point of view, a pity about Dan Higgins and Ruari Forbes. Haven't heard anything about Ruari's injury.  Great to see Patrick McGurk back in action. Conall Higgins had 2 points.Charlie Diamond had one two point score.

I think that is all the squad members.

Charlie diamond a lovely kicker. What's he like as an all round player?

It's v difficult to pick a team that will start v Kildare. Orourke be keen to get a few returning injured lads game time plus rewarding a few lads who have done well. Think the first number of games will be difficult but by end of league hopefully we will see where we are at

Thought mcglennon, Jordan and Conroy decent enough tonight. Some poor performances. Who impressed others?

Good to see Kennedy back but rusty

Quote from: samuel maguire on January 13, 2026, 09:53:26 AMAre we all just going to ignore the massive elephant in the room with al this talk of Hampsey returning?

I think the man has alot more on his plate to deal with first.
Lots of rumours circulating around him, once he gets himself sorted he will be back no doubt. Still one of best players and a great leader.

What are these rumours? He was training with Tyrone pre game at the weekend

Quote from: Hand of God on January 11, 2026, 06:47:49 PMAnyone catch the game today? Any standout performances?

Didn't see it myself but Jordan and Conroy seemed to be among the scorers albeit a few frees in there.

Was at the game and Conroy and Jordan did rightly. Conroy won and got more on a bit more ball but both got a real good score each. Both proper forwards that look to shoot and interesting to see if they get much game time.

Ronan Cassidy looking good and Conor Oneill look solid player at this level so far. Mattie D looks tip top shape.

It will be interesting to see what Malachy thinks his best team is

Quote from: Hand of God on January 11, 2026, 11:05:03 AMStrong team named.

By my reckoning the following players from last years squad have yet to be named (excluding retirements and McGeary):

Teague
Hampsey
Kennedy
Darragh Canavan
Daly
McElholm
Ruairi McHugh
Shea O'Hare
Aodhan Donaghy
Michael O'Neill

I'd expect the first 7 are just injury related or have been given some extra time off but O'Hare, Donaghy and O'Neill could have well have dropped off?

Ben Hughes has yet to feature, he was mentioned as a call up by Irish News so probably injured. Is Dalaigh Jones on the panel or not? Would be very surprising if he didn't get a call up given his club form. Conor Cush also probably not involved this year either.

Ben McDonnell, gray

Some thoughts

- thought all players did well enough
- conor Oneill looks to have the size to contribute
- breaking ball seemed to be something that has been worked on
- Ben Cullen and Cassidy got through tons of work and impressive
- lorcan Mcgarrity continuing to improve
- Conroy a big role in both goals
- Mattie Donnelly plenty to offer yet
- Niall Devlin playing with confidence

Quote from: Hand of God on January 01, 2026, 06:52:39 PMThe Irish News have 10 names listed as new additions from last years panel. Conor O'Neill is one but pretty sure he had been added at back end of last year.

5 from last years u20 panel:

Ben Hughes
Conor O'Neill
Callum Daly
Ruairi McCullagh
Joey Clarke

Michael Conroy
Oisin McCann
Mattie Og McGleenan
Ethan Jordan
Oisin Gormley

Hopefully that's not the full list. Both O'Neill and McCullagh are still u20 this season and it will probably take the younger guys longer to get up to speed. Thought there would be more players in the early 20s to mid 20s looked at who are probably more ready at the minute.

It might not be an exhaustive list of new additions this year. Would have like Dalaigh Jones and Conor Cush to get looked at again this year.

What's the thoughts on the older 5? Like the look of them all at times.
