Quote from: AustinPowers on May 24, 2024, 11:00:33 AMIN all honesty, can  anyone see Ten Hag  being still there next season?

I don't think  there's a hope in hell he'll be there come August, fa cup win or not. I would imagine his replacement  has been sorted out weeks ago

Having watched his FA Cup final press conference he doesn't sound like a manager that's departing.  Looking at those touted in the media to replace him none would be much of a upgrade and few would be down grades.

On McKenna did a decent job as coach when Ole was United manager and has done well with ipswich he'll have plenty of interest from lots of clubs now but might stick with Ipswich for another year and avoiding relegation with them would be another successfully season
There were leaks when he was a coach that his trainings weren't very good. Has maybe improved but he was already thrown under the bus before to help sack Ole by the players

Others said his and Carrick's training was very good but the message wasn't getting through to the clampits that were playing. Or the few that weren't playing were happy to leak out stuff to undermine the coaches too.

weren`t too far away last time

I'd say the gap has grown since the last time. Who's going to stand that would make a difference?

Quote from: Ethan Tremblay on May 24, 2024, 11:13:40 AMWould McKenna risk his reputation going to United or Chelsea at the moment with the state they are both in? Both are a poisoned chalice.

He has done a brilliant job getting Ipswich successive promotions, and there would be little expectations of Ipswich in the PL next year, survival probably the height of it.

If he had any sense, he should bide his time before going for the bigger job.  United are still going to be in some sort of disarray next season, and Ten Heg going is a matter 'when' rather than 'if' at this point.

If he had sense he should let Ten Heg absorb and resolve some of the issues over the next few months (clear out players etc) rather than jump into a mess he has not created, and get trashed for it.
If he doesn't take a big job now, and Ipswich struggle next year, which is likely, He may never get an option of a big job again. Expectations are prob low for both United and Chelsea now so you'd like to think he'll get 2 years without much aggro given the starting point.
He could go to either and regardless of how they do, he will be financially in a different place. Even if they ditch him before the end of the contract.

And Brighton are meant to be keen on him too. That could be a better move in the long run.

In Chelsea you're guaranteed to get sacked and even if United have some plan to change the whole set up the media and scale of the job could just be too much for him.

Joe says Roy Keane is boring and his ego means he wasn't one of the great captains. The irony in that coming from him.

That's definitely it. The first one brings back more memories, sitting watching the matches with my Da who's no longer with us. Down being good helped too!

Thanks folks. The company I'm looking at has slashed the excess cost - only €20 extra for the full package and was quoting at €270 extra originally

I need to hire a car in Malaga in July. Been looking at a few options and got some recommendations for the companies to use but I was wondering are you better taking the higher cost options to cover for the issues with scratches etc. I have heard of some nightmares on returning the car.
It works our €268 without the extra cover and €1200 on your card or €412 with the higher cover level.

It wasn't easy on the eye but fair play to the team and management for coming up with a gameplan and they nearly got it over the line. Only for some poor place kicking they could of won the game - but maybe Armagh always had enough in the tank to get in front.

You'd hope they put that disappointment to the side and go and win the Tailteann cup now.

I'm into the 2nd series and I'm still not sure where it's going. 1st series was good though. 3rd series not on netflix either

Was told this before yes. People seem happy to pay money for a pizza that they wouldn't pay for say a Chinese or a chippy.

Mate bought the stove and all the malarkey that goes with it.. not worth the hassle, its far cheaper to order

I bought a stone that goes in the oven, wasn't dear but should of bought a paddle too. Works well but even with that there's a lot of work with the dough etc. They are really good when you go to the hassle though

Ah here I was at this last summer too. I bought a pizza stone and stuck it in the gas bbq. Made the dough and all that. It's defo worth doing as something a bit different for the family. An ooni would be better I'm sure.

If this weather ever wised up I'd be ready to give it another whirl.

Yeah - must get the paddle bought and give it a rattle again, hadn't used it on the BBQ yet but must give it a rattle. BBQ weather window wasn't great last year though.

Quote from: Mario on April 15, 2024, 10:36:15 AMHe wrote an article the week before the league final saying it would be a success if Derry get within 6 points of this amazing Dublin team. Since then he's made a few comments that it's only the league. Then on his podcast last week he said he'll support those Derry lads no matter what as they are giving everything for the jersey, it's just Mickey Harte he doesn't like, but a few months ago he was saying no Derry player is good enough to start the Dublin team. The quality just isn't there and processed football can only get you so far.

From a football point of view he wants nothing more than Dublin to hammer everyone and he can then somehow link it to Pat Gilroy.

As a Dungiven man I find it very hard to listen to him these days. He is a walking contradiction. He's not stupid and I suppose he is staying relevant as we are talking about him so he's probably achieving what he set out to do.

I struggle to listen to Brolly anymore too. Used to enjoy him but he comes across now as slightly unhinged. Uses his platforms to target those who he hates incl Derry players and strikes me as a man who is content when Derry lose, he's not a real supporter. It's pretty clear to me of those who he targets have all one thing in common, he's highly jealous of them. He only ever has one objective and that is to make everything about him!!

That last podcast annoyed my head and I usually like the podcasts. I'm 100% a GAA man 1st and foremost but the constant it's nothing unless the GAA do it is bollox. My lads go to the local soccer club and they're very much a community club and do a lot for the people in the area and are absolutely delighted that they had a load of lads and girls from the surrounding GAA clubs playing with them.
He hadn't even the humility to check the history of the people he mentioned in it. "Do you think Gary Neville and David Beckham give a shit about Man Utd after they left them?" No wonder people from other sports don't like the GAA
