And Benn. Twice

Ah wasn't actually a huge fan tbh but respect to that set of wins though agree from memory they weren't in their orime

Eubank was still in his 20s @ Millstreet, unbeaten!

In fairness I said orime not prime 😜

They say Eubank wasn't same after the watson fight but yeah still young enough then tbh

😁.. Thought that was an American rapper. Orime doing the h/t Superbowl show 2026
It was more O'Neill I was disagreeing with... Should have quoted him then says you

Not weird at all

2 reasons why it's important

(1) The setting of the fire at the IPAS Center was down to a dispute between 2 criminal gangs not some "far right" ideology.

(2) Gangsters/convicted criminals were able to pass the vetting required to run an IPAS center where they received €10 M in taxpayer funded reimbursement.

If the government can't vet Irish people to run an IPAS center how the heck can we trust them to vet the incoming asylum seekers/refugees
Where did you pull that out of ffs

The 2 people arrested for setting the fire are members of the opposing faction in the on going feud

Hands across the divide in their shared hatred of non white foreigners? Much like the Coolock crew hanging out with the loyalist gang bangers in Belfast?

Quote from: ElJeffe on November 19, 2025, 05:17:39 PMYes, that's the draw I heard.
Ballyboden are no great shakes and Portarlington are past their best.

Have you watched any of Ballyboden this year? Best they have been I think ever in a Dublin championship. Performances throughout championship were top class and hugely deserving winners. The weather and heavy pitches will be a leveller and give Tullamore a chance. Still expect Ballyboden to win by 3/4 points. Athy look impressive. However, Meath champions were like every other Meath representative of the last 10-15 years-poor. For a traditional footballing county with the pedigree it has, how is club football there so bad. It's nearly getting to the point where the Meath county championships should be entered into the Leinster Intermediate Club championship to give them a chance. On another note-Barcelona Gaels- a fairytale story that has gone a bit under the radar.

Ballyboden are poor.

99% + of clubs playing football are at best 'poor'. What could be done to address this?

Quote from: J70 on November 19, 2025, 01:32:03 PMFor a moment I thought maybe Trump would finally get hoisted on his own petard, given that he was happy to ride the Epstein list all the way to political success, with his own son and current VP and FBI director fueling the hype for years, all while Trump himself looked to have some level of guilt in the whole sordid affair.

I've no idea how MAGA have squared that circle. That Trump would bring down these supposed Democratic paedo rings, especially Epstein, while at the same time he refuses to condemn Maxwell for her horrifying, evil actions. Then, he gets in again, and his minions make a big show out the gate with binders supposedly full of names and details handed over to MAGA personalities, before a few months later, Bondi, Patel and Bongino announce that there is suddenly nothing to reveal (one wonders why?!)! Then we get into months of sweetheart treatment for Maxwell, slow revelations of Trump's pally relationship with Epstein, and then him trying to intimidate his party into suppressing the information, including having the pathetic (but very "Christian") House Speaker basically shut down the House of Representatives for weeks and refuse to seat a new Dem representative who will provide the vital 218th signature to bring the release of the files to a vote. Once she's seated, then he desperately and disgustingly tries to bully the four hardline MAGA representatives who've committed to the vote into reversing their decision, only to lose that fight. In the end he gives in (presumably with assurances from Bondi and Patel on what will see the light of day), but mainly because he has no choice. Yet, after all that, the MAGA movement will stay with him.

Which means Trump will get off scott-free like he always does. If there IS anything incriminating, he'll have it suppressed or locked up for some bullshit reason like he did with his tax returns, which for years he "couldn't" release because he was supposedly under audit. Any stuff that is merely embarrassing or that would be a career-ender for any normal politician or public figure, he'll just brazen it out as always and move the next scandal that will roll along in a couple of days. Would any other politician get away with a revelation that he spent hours in a room with one of Epstein's young victims? Can you imagine any other politician getting away with the shit he's pulled in just the past few days with that reporter ("quiet piggy"), his cruel and deranged comments towards Thomas Massie's personal life, his stupid attacks on MTG, one of the few who never wavered in her support of him following January 6th?

And even aside from the Epstein stuff, he's tanking the economy with his insane tariff policies. He's spouting nonsense about 50 year mortgages and direct payments for healthcare costs and the US being in a "golden age" of economic growth, all while his ICE/CBP thugs invade blue cities to harass and intimidate and abduct poor brown people.

I guess MAGA are delighted with that last policy, but what about everything else he's doing? Is it all really, at the end of the day, just about making the libs cry? Even if it comes at a cost to themselves? Even if he is only out for his own personal, corrupt, interest, as MTG has finally, and at long last, realized?

Trump is a spoofer of the highest order

We all know that the stunt with the folders was nothing short of theater

But the Democrats have learnt nothing-they swing at every single pitch

It's very likely that the Democrats could come out of this looking worse than Trump

And let's see how Jeffries comes out of all this-mind boggling to say the least

And many people in my orbit could give 2 fvcks about what Trump said to that journalist. As the recent BBC debacle showed.....they're out to get him and the only way to handle it is to fight fire with fire

So much said in 1 small paragraph

All depends on the team / department in my experience. I've worked with the guts of 50 people (very low turnover of staff).. In my time there's been 1 guy who has been off for a stint, 13 months after a car crash. Zero others. Some will take the micky of course.

As long as we're not looking over there but... #bogeyman

That's good to hear.  In that case, you would think there would be no major fuss if this benefit was removed?

Me personally wouldn't factor into 'major fuss'. I haven't had a single day off sick, but what's around the corner? Wages aren't great, but benefits are. I'd keep them and hopefully never have to avail of them. But as long as everyone is looking and hating on public sector employees, job done

The hyperbolic victim act doesn't cut it, the numbers don't lie

The 'what's around the corner?' question applies to everyone

And don't start me about wages - when pension contributions are considered, total remuneration in the public sector is, on average, higher than the private sector

OK.. Discussion forum, I work the PS, I gave my own experience and team experience, why act the ballbag?

You didn't just give your own experience though did you?

You added your comments (I paraphrase) that this was a distraction - a "bogeyman" and that this was just everyone "hating on public sector employees"

I pointed out that the facts say otherwise and called you out on faux victimhood

I believe these are both fair comments

I did exactly that, me and the team I work in with a caveat at the end re others I've no experience of

Victim / faux victimhood... Mustn't be mandatory self-awareness courses in the private sector
