GAA Discussion / Re: O'Byrne Cup 2014

Well we got the final we all wanted. It's looking like a shoot out next week, and in the heat of battle Meath should win this shoot out hands down, at least Newbridge will help us be at least competitive.

This should be the stiffest test that Kildare have encountered so far, as KK has said a nice balance to the team. I like what I've seen of Ryan so far. He seems to have plenty of ideas that will benefit Kildare football. A crack at Meath the week before the League starts would do nicely.

Eamon 'Leper' Callaghan He got his nickname when his mates in Primary School couldn't think up a nickname for him so opened a random page in the dictionary.

Results tonight :

Meath 1-17 Longford 2-10;

Wexford 1-15 Louth 2-11

The draw has also been made tonight from the Leinster Gaa Twitter

Electric Ireland Leinster MFC Quarter Finals 11th May:

Offaly v Kildare;

Dublin v Wexford;

Westmeath v Wicklow;

Laois v Meath

I'm guessing it's home advantage for whoever was first out of the hat based on past years apart from Kildare and Offaly for some reason which will be in Newbridge, possibly due to Offaly having home advantage for the same fixture two years ago?

The Kildare fans think it's only a matter of toggin out now.

Is that so? As has been said numerous times on this topic, Longford have already beaten this panel of players at minor level and have also beaten the reigning All Ireland Champions this year so I don't see this logic? I think you're asking the wrong Kildare fans Jinxy.

Where did the maroon come from or is that to tie in with the pork ;)

That's a very good question, some of the Kildare purists who were up in arms at the few games in the qualifiers where Kildare had to wear green will not be happy with this new addition of colour, but at least it remains undoubtedly mostly white  ;)

Didn't Lacey balloon a ball into the terrace in injury time that day when we were a point ahead. Reminded me of Davy Dalton doing the exact same thing into the Hogan Stand after Christy saved a Giles penalty in 1997 and Rainbow free outside him.

He went for a point and it dropped short and Roscommon attacked from there and equalised, if he kicked it dead we had it! Those are the breaks! It was a cracking game all the same.

You could argue many players from each team, one that sticks out for me is Denis Glennon who was a one man show for many of the westmeath games, Harte did have a great league though and his scoring prowess from the half back line says a lot.

Fancy Kildare......................................... then for them to completely  blow up in the championship

What is the purpose of ...................... in your posts it really adds nothing to your posts and try not to come back with a geezer/huddle type retort thanks.

My Prediction would be a repeat of the Mckenna Cup Final and Derry Prevailing.

Who is the first team coach at Man United their equivalent of Aresnal's Boro Primorac?

The pace and movement of Man United seems to have gone up a notch, very impressive tonight..

He's Rene Meulensteen, a dutch guy who has been with them since 2001 but was promoted to first team coach when Queiroz left for the portugese national team job. They do look very lively alright, maybe the injection of youth has aided this...

We use the O' Byrne cup as the tae bag holder!  ;)
