Played soccer only in my school and whilst they were the stand out school the style of play was not exactly continental.
Soccer here mimics the English game.

The purpose of a planning JR is not for the judge to assess the planning merits of a decision but more so to judge upon whether the planning authority took into account all materials considerations when arriving at their decision. As such Justice Horner has highlighted the issues which were not proporly considered.

The DOE will now have an opportunity to consider those matters and make a new decision. If they properly consider all those matters and arrive at a decision to approve it unlikely that there will any further grounds for review. The residents best hope is that the DOE decide that the information not originally considered sways their opinion on planning merit and that they either seek a reduction or refuse.
This will be the decision of Mark H.

I know which outcome that I would place my money on.

Is the president not just a figurehead who hands out the odd medal and open the odd clubhouse. Previous president promised so much for ulster hurling and delivered so little. In my opinion a president has real power and provincial/county chairs rule their own roosts. Hurling will never improve in ulster with anti hurling men in important positions. Token gestures from croke park such as sending up 'hurling mentors' are done to pay lip service.

Was in st columbs park last, well worth a dander over. It would be a ten minute dander across the peace bridge. It would be a waste to come into derry and just go to foyleside!

And it also begs the question why are the Antrim Glens and Ards Peninsula hurling country?

Up until the 1930's there was two clubs playing out of the parish of Portaferry, the hurling parts of Down then were Kilclief ( strangford) and Newry. Kilclief still hold the most Down senior championship wins AFAIK.
As with everything the local national school in Ballycran got a new head teacher some time in the 30's and he was from Kilkenny, hence the colours, Master McKenna was his name, hence the name of the pitch. He was the big driving force behind the new club. At this time the two Portaferry clubs had amalgamated to form St Patricks and it was the Portaferry club who lent both Ballygalget and Ballycran players to get them up and running, Ballygalget officially formed in 1939, Ballycran something similar so it'd be hard to attribute the hurling in the area of the big farm, small farm scenario seen in Munster and Leinster which probably happened centuries before this.

really interesting reading Johnny. It is funny how individual school masters were behind the drive of hurling in the early days in Ulster. Correct if I'm wrong but I believe that Dungiven and Lisbellaw had similar influences. Is this the real answer for Ulster- import a load of teachers from Kilkenny and Cork to spread the gospel of hurling!

Anycraic, some amazing rants here.

But the bottom line is that you will not accept that the role of a regional broadcaster is to broadcast stories of regional interest. Even if the whole of Strabane turns up for a Strabane Sigersons game, that doesn't make of interest beyond west Tyrone.

I'll put this another way. There are funerals every few weeks, maybe every week, in Ulster that invoke thousands of mourners. But the only funerals that get mentioned on BBC NI are those involving figures who have a regional profile. Believe it or not, sport has to operate on a roughly similar principle.

BBC Radio Foyle are the local broadcasters for the north west, including Strabane, I have rarely heard them chat about local GAA issues. They do have great interest in local cricket news in every morning sports bulletin and even have special cricket correspondent. they also report cross channel soccer. It makes this whole local, regional, national thing all very confusing

I agree that blame lies with county ccc but I just can't imagine any player in the big hurling counties opting for club over county if the situation arose. Most clubs would encourage their players to play foe county in big games, its not like Antrim or Rossa are big football powerhouses
Yeah because Antrim are a hurling powerhouse. Take yerself for a walk ffs. Disgrace that the young lad was put in such a position. The Club v County debate comes up on this board every now and again. Everyone says club.

Sums up Antrim in one post

I enjoyed impromptu sessions in the following places over the week- tower hotel, sandwich company, wgs, anchor, castle, rocking chair, tinneys, park bar, craft village, grand central, various outdoor locations including guildhall square, Waterloo place, ebrington. I also went to some of the concerts and they were top class. Also chatted to people who were at sessions in various other bars that I didn't attend. If you limited yourself to the 'drinking zones' and pop up bars these sessions were probably 'minimal' as they were too crowded and noisy. Overall it was a class week from start to finish
