Are Killyclogher suffering an injury crisis or are they trying to suck the island in?

On a positive note for Carrickmore- we are out of the senior and reserve championships and by all account there was 41 at training on Monday night. My brother reckons it is because of the free food but the question has to be asked as to why the same appetite was not shown in May when they were still in the championship? Any other clubs finding this?

The reality is if Derry and Monaghan lose this weekend they will get none. Sligo are more likely to get one as they are provincial champions. If Tyrone were to get one for winning a provincial then it would be Conor Gormley, but although i think he is easily in the top couple in Ireland, the fact that Tyrone  were one of the favourites (unjustifiably) goes against him or any Tyrone player getting one. What odds would you get on Geraghty getting player of the year?

Well said Uladh. It is defenders we need. D McCaul is an excellent defender and will prove to be one in years to come. Ricey has lost a yard to be a top class corner back and Davy and Philly do not tackle, they crowd. Justin McMahon is not the answer as he can not tackle either. Joe McMahon is a good defender but do you see Darren Fay or Graham Canty soloing up to the 45 and kicking it into the goalkeepers hands, and low and behold it end up being put down the field to the position he vacated, ending in a goal. Perhaps it is time to look at out and out who are big. McCarron, Colm McGurk, perhaps young Swift from Killyclogher. All specialist man markers. We have a perception that if someone can carry a ball they must run with it. I have no doubt that Stehen Brae and Shane O'Rourke are brillant ball carriers but they can score. It is beyond the realms of possibility that Sean Cavanagh could be played somewhere in the full forward line were he would be an areial option as well as a scoring forward.
Anyway i was speaking to Conro Gormley yesterday and he is none to happy aboput being switched from pillar to post either.

It is a muscular pain as a result of a training just after the Ulster Final. It is not something that would stop you from playing in an All Ireland quarter final though. He may go down for breathers  ;) on the field but he is one hardy mo fo

Indeed he is struggling big time. I am surprised this has been kept quiet as long. He will be playing but i would sa it will be as a holding centre back so he can get through the game.

Why have some people a problem with Loughmacrory? They are a footballing side who have longed for a bigger field for years. Their supporters may be slighly intimidating but whose supporters are not?

Neutral it would have been cheaper to build a new one than to refurbish was is left of the existing one. Believe me at committee level there were several arguements over the stand, it cost, positioning and viabilty. It was the intervention of Sean Kelly that encouraged them to forge ahead with the project. There will be a museum of sorts inside the stand. You may come to take two league points in Carrickmore alright and i hope you are made to feel welcome.

No one is being forced to pay anything KIDDO. The draw is for club development not just the Nally Stand. The club has got massive support for this venture from all parts of Ireland. The reason it is in Carrickmore in the first place is because a member of the club won the demolition contract and rather than cut up a part of our national heritage he donated it to Carrickmore Club.

And the matter of Dom Corrigan- as well you know KIDDO, 4 business men are paying Dominics expenses. It is a matter for the football sub committee within the club. Our treasurer would not even know how much it is. It is because of wankers like you that no one and i stress no one outside of Dromore wants to see Dromore win an O'Neill cup.

Neutral ignorance amuses me. How much do you actually know about this project or about the enineering miracle that was performed to put the strucure up where is is located? How could the original steps be kept? To my knowledge Concrete can not be relocated to another site after it has set! The old roof was asbestos which is regarded as a toxic substances which is illegal to use in the roofing of building at the minute, hence new cladding went on the roof. The original seats are being kept, they are just being painted.
As for your comment on fund raising, all clubs need fundraising or they would not exist. I am sure Carrickmore shall survive without your money.

Do not bite the head off me hear folks but the rumour around our part of the world is that Ciaran McDonald is one! There are a few who played very successfully for Pomeroy over the years as well.

From talking to Raymond Munroe, I know that he rates Rodgers highly, but i think it really is a question of who do you leave off. Peter Hughes is a very intelligent player who has a sharper and quicker brain than Rodgers. I thin kthe week link on the minors is actually at full forward, which is not Rodgers strongest apparently so what do you do?

From a Carrickmore perspective the lads gave an awsome second half performance yesterday in Cookstown. Trailling 5-4 at the break they outscored the Father Rock 9-1 in the second half. I like the look of this young team who really are full of self belief.

I was at the Intermediate double header last evening and i was very impressed with the Donnellys from Brockagh. They nearly beat Moortown on their own.

Not a single flag out that I have seen in Tyrone yet I was in Monaghan last night and Cars, houses and Silotanks are all decorated.

StarSpangled, to answer you question, Gormley was shifted to mark Freeman in 2005. I distinctly remember the switch being made after approx 20 minutes and the first thing he done was whack him one.

Indeed McEnaney was there in 2005. But it is impossible to compare the 2 teams. I have a feeling this will either be a surprise Monaghan victory or a big Tyrone win

I have been following this thread and it is funny because a group of footballers and non footballers were talking about this in my company recently. The lads involved have all played in county finals and Ulster Club games for either Carrickmore or Killyclogher and believe me, one of these guys has played in alot of County finals. Like the majority of people are saying, nerves are natural and are certainly required. There are guys in both dressing rooms who apparently make themselves sick to relieve some pressure. However you need characters in your changing room to relieve the tension the week of the game. It is said (although it may not all be true) that Errigal Ciaran were big favourites against Carrickmore in 2001 county final. Carmen were training on Friday night (nine days before the game) and the manager, John Brennan, detected alot of tension so he organised a training session in Rosnowlagh on Sunday morning. Brennan took them on the piss after training and pulled a stroke later. He got them talking going home on the bus about their fears about next Sunday- and because of the drink they had none. He reminded them all week of this -and they won. The Killyclogher player though this was complete lies, but there is some truth in it. Other managers have held all summer long drink bans, some two weeks etc, but it all has to be in the head.
