did anyone hear the weather for the first 2 days?  will it help the earlier starters or late

forcast for the end of the week is 'mixed' whatever that means...

Mixed weather for carnoustie will probably mean torrential rain and wind followed by an hour on glorious sunshine :)

I hope the weather isn't awful though. The americans never gave Paul Lawrie the credit he deserved for winning it in 1999, and said the weather prevented a better player from winning it. I remember that Open very well, especially Jean Van de Velde losing the plot on the final few holes. When he took the shoes and socks off to play that infamous shot, I couldn't watch. Talk about choking on your big chance of success.

Seamus Heaney is a Catholic, dont know how well that would go down in hardline loyalist areas.

I can't see Heaney being a problem, he's never being affiliated with either side. Equally a mural of John Hume and David Trimble should be welcomed in either area. 3 Nobel prize winners from a population as small as the North should be recognised, if anything their achievements could be appreciated at an international level, whereas lennon and sambo would not.

on Nationalist Side

1.Neil Lennon in Celtic Shirt??

2.Terence McNaughton, more GAA murals around Belfast would be welcome

On Unionist Side???

1.David Healy

2.George Best

There's no chance neil lennon would ever make an apperance on a mural. It's not just because he has played for celtic but he has become a hate figure for rangers supporters and is it fair to say he hasn't helped healing the sectarian divide in belfast or glasgow? If you could only get away with putting a certain mural up in either a unionist or nationalist area then it defeats the whole idea of having a mural that everyone can appreciate. Anyone controversial should be avoided. Seamus Heaney is an obvious choice. What about Oscar Wilde, educated in Enniskillen?

Whats been happening on the street lately? Am flat out delivering these days!!

1) Will and Elle tricked Paul into signing over control over everything. Paul is still suffering from strange visions and was carted off by the cops leaving Elle feeling very guilty.
2) Mary Casey, who is Pepper's stalker, has locked her in a room at her house which was the nursery for Pepper's baby that she miscarried
3) Rosie and Fraser almost kissed yesterday. A classic will they, won't they storyline!
4) Sky is obsessed with the spirit medium Terrence and feels that she has 'the gift'
5) Lolly has to decide whether to go back and live with her 'real father' or stay with lou. Think everything would agree she should return.

GAA Discussion / Re: Graham Geraghty returns

This has to be great news for meath, but only if the players advocated his return and were not pressured into it. The meath full forward line lacked a wee bit of experience in the second half against fermanagh and shane o'rourke is only finding his feet at this level at full forward. But surely if meath bring him back back they have to start him?

surely healy is too young? i think it's prob better to paint someone on a mural at the end of their career not when they are in their prime. Also jimmy nebitt? what has he done that loads of other actors haven't??

There seems to be no doubt that there is most certainly a murky world in football when it comes to transfers. But surely any club that is involved in corruption have been given far too much warning. The police are probably going to look for computer files and paper evidence I presume. The clubs if involved however will surely have tried to cover up their tracks. The Lord Stevens report came out ages ago.

Less of the fermanagh bashing ONeill. Talking of english far be it for me to stand up for the great language but what about 'American English'? Putting Z in words instead of S and leaving U out of words like colour and behaviour. Always pisses me off when I'm reading stuff written in the States. Also there use of offence instead of attack and uniforms instead of kits when referring to a team's colours.

I know it's a bit trivial but when your standing waiting to cross a road at traffic lights and you've pressed the button for the green man to come on. While you stand there waiting to cross, why does every person who arrives afer you proceed to press the button 3 to 4 times. Do they really think the people standing there haven't thought to do it already?

I think the manager has to come from outside the county. I think it helps to bring someone in who doesn't know a lot of the players personally and can bring fresh ideas. Furthermore it should remove the possibility of the manager not picking people from certain clubs etc, which there is always the possibility of. How big a manager would be willing to take Fermanagh on? If Joe Kernan leaves Armagh any chance he'd take it? Mickey Moran and John Morrison as co-managers?? As for Charlie Mulgrew, no doubt he has brought Fermanagh forward but he still made to many errors as manager. I know it's a matter of opinion but I never felt he picked his best 15 on match days. Shaun Doc should have started a lot more and McBarron was never fit enough for championship football this year. James Sherry should have started with Murphy in midfield as he always ended up there anyway. I hope the new manager brings a few new faces into the panel. There's a lot of good talent out there, Shane McAloon, Mattie Keenan for example.

FermPundit, how can you say that we struggle to score from play but yet can match any team in Ireland on our day? Fermanagh no doubt have an outstanding defence, but to win matches you have to score. Our forwards are industrious but most of them do not pose a scoring threat. Against a strong defence like Meath, we face an uphill struggle to win. If Eamon Maguire and Mark Little are well marshalled and the meath defence are disciplined and don't give away frees where are the scores going to come from?

Don't really see the point in buying a new keeper. This is going to be Van der Sar's last season anyway. Although Foster looks like he's going to be out for most of next season, Kuszczak is good enough to be called upon if required. He was arguably one of the best keepers in the Pemiership a few seasons ago. Sure he'll probably only play cup games anyway. Why fork out millions for a back up keeper when you know that Foster is going to be your number one this time next season?

I agree with you ExiledGael about the jersey, I'm not a big fan of the new jersey either. I bought it when it first came out and they quality of the material is shocking. If you were to spit on it hard enough it would tear.

on his performances over the last 5 years or so, barry owens surely deserves a spot. He'd get on any team in the country.

Fermanagh lads, do you think Mulgrew will keep faith with the same 15 that started against wexford. If Tom Brew is carrying an injury would it not be a good option to play him at full forward and move O'Reilly to the corner. Although this would mean that McElroy would lose out, he isn't really a scoring threat. Tom Brew gives the option of the long ball into what is a small forward line and of course we would then have a recognised left footed free taker on the park. However, Shaun Doc is another viable option. He did very well when he came on, but he awlays seems to do better as an impact sub than when he starts.
