What, no option for "lawyer" or "legal"? Surely there's more than a few on the Board.

I doubt he'd have heard anything too 'sensitive' in his role of driver. They'd have to be thick to talk about anything of that nature in a car of all places.. :o

Ye know, the way Pints and Snowed Under stalk each other from thread to thread is just getting plain scary, and has a bit of Fight Club about it. I'm startin to think they're actually two personalities trapped inside the same person! - "Punder" or something. I picture him sitting at his keyboard beatin the shite outta himself!

Well the sex bit of it she's got nothing to be proud off - but after she's carried a child and given birth she's plenty to be proud of.

So, a woman who carries a child and gives birth can feel pride in herself...but a man who helps her through that should not feel any pride in himself?? Even during a difficult pregnancy?

QuoteBTW it does take two to make a new life.
Well this is the only part of your post that's sensible.
It takes two to make a life alright, but a father's part is hardly anything to be proud of.

Pints, by that logic would you agree that the mother has nothing to be proud of? In the 'making new life' bit I mean?

I'm sure plenty of ye remember learnin this wee ditty at school...esp if ye come from anywhere north of Cavan. Thought I'd post it seeing as how some of ye seem to be in nostalgic mood:

He's gone to school, wee Hughie,
An' him not four,
Sure I saw the fright was in him
When he left the door.
I watched him to the cornero' the big turf stack,
An' the more his feet went forrit,
Still his head turned back.
I followed to the turnin
'When they passed it by,God help him he was cryin',
An' maybe so was I.

General discussion / Re: Empty Orange Halls??
June 19, 2007, 06:03:31 PM
This thread has turned fierce philosophical...which is especially discomforting seeing as how it started out with Orange Halls! And we've reached the classic conundrum...religion is based and relies upon faith, not knowledge. Whereas non-believers (atheist or otherwise) cannot prove, despite any amount of insight/knowledge, that God or a superior power doesn't exist...

Two rules I like (not mine):

1) Thou shalt not alter the consciousness of thy fellow man.

2) Thou shalt not prevent thy fellow man from altering his own consciousness.

After all this...religion = humanism after all??

A man (a bit of a crank) decides to build himself a house. He designs his house very carefully and to precise specifications. The house is perfectly square with each of the four walls measuring 30ft. There is one window, and only one window, in the middle of each of the four walls. Each window measures 6ft X 6ft. Every window in the house faces south...how?

Just in - the taped converstion of the Gillette offer:

George Gillette : The name's Gillette. George Gillette. And I come before you good people tonight with an idea. Probably the greatest... Aw, it's not for you. It's more of a Shelbyville idea.

Moores : Now wait just a minute! We're twice as smart as the people of Shelbyville! Just tell us your idea and we'll vote for it!

Monorail. Monorail. Monorail!!!  :D Nice one SDC. Let's hope the new stadium doesn't go the same way as the Monorail...
