SF can posture all they like on a border poll, and the is all it is posturing. The fact seems to be at the moment a sizeable section of the formerly nationalist community have accepted the union, the fleg and gongs from the Queen. This has been reinforced by SF rolling over at every turn to DUP demands.

As you say a sizable amount have accepted the British union and the trimmings it comes with because they believe they are better off financially within it, I don't think they've coem round to a British Identity though, the push on a Northern Irish Identity is probably helping it head that way though.

This is a fickle and self serving part of the population though, if the financial allure isn't with Britain then they aren't either

Between 1932 and 1972 a much greater part of the "nationalist community" had accepted the Union or at least unionist rule. That many are now also content with their lot is irrelevant. Swings and roundabouts, you always get another chance, just a matter of keeping the faith and being ready to capitalise on changed circumstances. SF should milk this for all it worth, you can be sure the SNP are going to do the same in Scotland and fair fcks to them.

Sf are already talking about it.

It's a result which may possibly suit them and definitely suits the snp.

Is this the reason why SF were conspicuous by the absence from the campaign trail? Not to their usual level of campaigning IMO?

Most likely i think.

More likely they couldn't members to go out and campaign for it.  Very prominent SF supporters north and south we're very vocal for leave e.g. Eoin Ó Murchú and Jude Collins. I was for leave myself until the Jo Cox murder but I was never going to canvass for remain.

Didn't Danny Morrisson refer to the unionist community as 'the boat people'?

Did he? I was curious and Googled. The only reference to it was from a Johnny Adair obsessed loon who also thinks Danny Morrison was an MP.

Kenny, Noonan and Martin crying today about the economic disaster that awaits should the Brits leave. No doubt they've worn down some shoe leather this past few weeks canvassing around Newry and west Belfast.

There was always free education, free school meals too when I grew up and I went to school in the 70's..... Had this argument before about the shipyard and Shorts ... yep massive discrimination there even when I started as an apprentice there in 88 there was only 4 of us out of 30 that started... equal opportunities came in 86 possibly I'm not sure but what had happen was that because of the discrimination up to the time the equality commission was set up most Catholics didn't apply for the shipyard and Shorts as it was a cold house

I spoke to the training manager years later and he said they could get catholics to apply (due to what had went on in the past) they went to schools and training facilities to promote but this stuff was ingrained in a lot of people in working class catholic areas, as it was for me, but the money was good and they had further education and I was my own person, I didn't follow what others said or told me and found things out for myself, unlike you ;)
Catholics didn't apply because they were f**king black holes and life-threatening places to be for a Catholic.
My oul fella worked for Shorts in the 70's and besides the normal intimidation of wrapping union flags around his machine and such jolly japes he was attacked on numerous occasion and had to leave after a warning from the RUC that he was going to be shot. But rather than your "sure wasn't it all great" narrative, both firms were dangerous places for Catholics right up to the mid 90s.

Maurice O'Kane -- murdered in H&W 1994
Joe Reynolds -- murdered in Shorts 1993

Laois should have called CCCC's bluff and not accepted replay proposal.
There were then 2 options
1.  a fine for Laois
2.  Laois thrown out - Clare would get a bye in Qualifier Round 2

The absence of sportsmanship on the Armagh side should be plain for all to see.
There couldn't get through front door or back door so they sneak in through an open window.
It's not too late for them to redeem themselves and refuse replay.

No, I think technically Laois would forfeit the game meaning the win awarded to Armagh who would get a bye through to play Clare.

In fairness there were more Armagh people there than Laois supporters. However entrances prices are scandalous for what's on offer. I won't be back.

How much was it in?
I thought €25 was steep for a stand ticket for the Tyrone v Cavan game too

€20 for adults and €5 for children (including infants and tots). That was €65 in for us plus, diesel, food and snacks and then a meal on the way home. Wouldn't have minded the €20 even if it was exorbitant but the charge for toddlers left a very bad taste. It was cheaper to get into the Rackard & Ring finals in Croker the other week ffs.

I've heard it said the brother of...

... ... ... and a long time Fianna Fáil county councilor. The identity of the man is key as it's alleged he used his political position and authority to block the investigation. The name has been in the public domain for a long time and a senior Fianna Fáil official confirmed he is still a member of the Party.

Dry your eyes J70.

At least you've had the decency sense to delete the detail identifying the man's family name.

I didn't identify him and neither did I say he murdered the child. I answered a direct question as to the suspect is who (i) has been reported to the Gardaí  (ii) name has been passed to both Enda Kenny and Micheál Martin (iii) is going to be the subject of this documentary. Those are facts not libels. If this was any ordinary citizen he would have at least been pulled in for questioning years ago.

No surprise that Ulick the shinner shrill is the one to throw out the smear, seeing their trolls using her image on profile pics on twitter as though any of them give the slightest genuine s*** about her or her family is sickening.

It's all a bit different when it's not a Shinner on the end of a smear eh lads?

His name is mentioned in the comments section of the YouTube clip.

Is an anonymous YouTube clip comment clearance to repeat a possibly libelous comment here?

It's a very serious and defamatory allegation.

Who's liable if the smeared person decides to take action against GAA Board?

It's only libelous if it's not true.

No fan of the woman but ffs did you ever hear of limited liability etc .

Do you Shinnerbots have any facility to think for yourself ??

Maybe, but...
1. Independent auditors found that Regina Doherty did not adhere to proper bookkeeping procedures prior to the insolvency (an offense under the Companies Act)
2. She used company funds to pay for non-company related personal expenses
3. She did not disclose her Directorship of this company after becoming a TD
4. She lied about receiving death threats on social media

Lads with these apps, is it only for transferring large amounts? I downloaded that transfer wise app there to check it out and had to transfer £1000 for starters
I transfer money fairly regularly from south to northern bank account and low fees would be handy!

Read the posts. Revolut. Pay with fire. Check them out. No fees and the best rates going.

Does Revolut allow 2-way transfers? i.e. can I link two or more bank accounts to revolut, one northern, one southern and transfer each way without fees?

Currencyfair also has a marketplace exchange which can often beat the interbank spot rate used by Revolut if you are prepared to wait a bit.
