No matter what mr grumpy says I'm delighted we are in the champions league draw today. I'm looking forward to seeing where I can maybe get away to on my holidays. I'd love a big name like Madrid or Munich but if I was picking a group myself I'd have cska Leverkusen Brugge in our group.

On the manager I think think he is doing a grand job so far he has livened up a few of the stail players and brought in some real talent and experience. He will bring in a few more in the closing days of this window now we are in the cl proper. Remember we play in Scotland not the over hyped epl

Conlon v Ramirez would be a tight fight.  They fought when they were younger at a lighter weight.  Conlon has significantly improved since 2012 and seems better at BW, whereas Ramirez hasn't been as impressive in the 4 years since.

Find it so interesting to read about how Cuba became such a boxing powerhouse.  Would love to know how Kazakhstan have became such a force now.

I havent seen the fight in question but I would be inclined to give Mickey Gallagher the benefit of the doubt, great servant to amateur boxing in Omagh and indeed Ireland over the years

And what's your opinion of Seamus Kelly?

What about the recent revelations from John Conlon regarding Michael o Reilly serious questions need asked. Absolutely shocking stuff ye wouldn't get away with it on a junior b reserve panel never mind on a team planning to bring back a serious amount of medals. I think this goes higher than Zaur and John I think it's the same set up who let Billy Walsh go. I'm absolutely disgusted.

You're being deliberately disingenuous there Muppet.

??

I didn't find a chart with a combined population.

Most sports art the Olympics would be covered by all-Island federations.

Out of interest, how many on "Team GB" are from the 6 counties?
Few hockey lads, rowers, archery fella from Banbridge that I know of. I remember seeing somewhere there was about 30 from the black north representing Ireland or GB.

Something like 28 people from the 6 counties involved 21 on team Ireland

Have you seen this? What's your opinion?

I think it's a very hard hitting look at one of the most prominent times in our lives. For me it evoked so many sad memories of a horrible time in our lives, but by god it reinforces also their steely resolve and determination in my mind. Brave men, heroes.

And then there were 2! Stevie Donnelly went out battling as did rooster to better opponents just. Donnellys got to be very proud of his achievements t.hus far at the olympics rooster will be much stronger come Tokyo where I'll guess he will be boxing at 56kg. Donnelly too if he hangs about.

Can't see anything in conlons division so far in the competition to cause him any harm haven't seen the Cuban or the American yet tho

I see the keyboard kings are at it again in here and on social media anyone who knows boxing knows the toll it takes on the body to cut down to the weight. Paddy is boxing at that weight near 10 years it was just one to many cuts previous evidence of this can be seen in frampton who had to move up in weight mc Gregor in the ufc too and more recently pa jo hula dance and Steven ormond have all struggled to loose the required pounds. I think paddy knew getting to 49 was going to be a tough job but he badly wanted the gold that eluded him the last 2 Olympic Games. He went out fighting and was honest as ever in his assessment afterwards. He will be back but possibly as a pro. Twitter had nothing to do with anything he tweeted as much the last olympics also it's all a bit of light hearted fun. Defeated today but paddy is still one of Ireland's greatest ever a true Irish man a legend and a hero. Now for the others to bring home the medals.
.

Agree with you 100 % , however should the boxing management have been aware that making the weight was going to be a problem.

Possibly should have been but the fact rooster Irvine had qualified at 52kg and paddy was already qualified at @49 was a big bearing on it. Hindsight is a deadly thing we all know that. One thing for sure the Irish team will use paddys defeat as motivation nothing is a given inside the ring.

I'm shocked at this. Silly boy if true I'm thinking it was probably a fat burner to help get down to his weight. Still a stupid action especially with all going on with the Russians

Probably got it off hos misuses.... That can get you off it ::)
