Dublin SFC semifinal replay at Parnell Park this evening

Cill Mochuda Na Crócaigh vs Naomh Éanna Baile Bodáin

Landed back from the black north and the game was into the second half, scores 0-4 apiece. Apparently the first half was poor fare with poor shooting adding to the lack of entertainment. The teams were eager to impress me on my arrival and so the fun started. Crokes dominating possession rattled over 2 points followed by a Cian O'Sullivan goal after the 'keeper saved well from Pa Burke only for the ball to sky up and Cian got the touch ahead of his own man. The Boden hit back straight away with their long ball reaping a goal that kept the game alive, 2 further points brought them back to parity and so ensued the tit-fot-tat. Boden went ahead with minutes remaining, the tension told as Crokes attacked. Boden dispossessed 3 times but gave the ball back cheaply each time, the equaliser came about from a shot across goal by Declan Kelleher (son of Robbie) that the St Endas 'keeper palmed over his own crossbar. Normal time ran out 1-8 each.

Extra time was notable for 2 things, Crokes dominating the ball as St Endas struggled for possession along with the St Endas forward that hit the same post twice and then hit the back stanchion on the wrong side all in the same attack to gasps of disbelief all around. St Endas defended resolutely in numbers and got their reward when Conal Keaney scored the leveller that brings both sides back to Parnell Park next Tuesday evening at 7.30 for round 3 of this semifinal.

Must say it was fantastic entertainment and the players on show deserve great credit, the ball retention ability of both teams was impressive and shows how valuable it is in the modern game to hold onto possession. Anyone who has a spare hour or so could do worse than turn up next Tuesday, sit into the stand and watch 2 very good footballing teams under lights at the comfortable Donnycarney venue.

Final score :
Cill Mochuda Na Crócaigh 1-10     Naomh Éanna Baile Bodáin 1-10

Great win yesterday for a very good team.  The ard sithour made the point last night that he thought Armagh should now be considered a powerhouse of football as they are in his words the best supported team per head of population in the country and because they were the only county this decade to win a senior, minor, u21 all ireland titles and senior club all irelands and a national league.  Not sure id necessarily  agree with him but it has been a great decade to support Armagh.  Has any other county ever won all those titles in a single decade?

Mike Frank had all that plus a Sigerson won by the time he was 21.

Wouldnt it be great if there was a facility on the site where everyones club and county were displayed beside there posts  ;)

I agree nbtd, either that or guess from their username!  ;)
In fairness its easy to guess from most posters... there there is the odd few lurkers that remain an enigma.
Either want to preserve anonymity or they dont want to be found out! :P

Maybe they're from Balla and are too ashamed to admit it  :P

So the snipe is living up to his name ! Balla indeed are not exactly on the crest of a wave presently but of course it takes the sniper hiding behind the keyboard to have a cheap shot. Being such the great cubman yourself I recall you advising FL/Mayo at one stage to send his kids to Breaffy if he moves to Balla parish.  Great work undoubtedly being done in Breaffy and use being made of the population increase in the Castlebar overspill but it's not so long ago that ye were the whipping boys of west Mayo underage, nothing as crass as the nouveau riche.   >:(

I'm from a football county in as much as that can be true, there are a 7/8 hurling clubs in Mayo and great work is being done to promote the game but it is not being supported and encouraged as it should be. Look back to the disgraceful situation a few years ago when the Mayo senior hurlers were making the step up to the next level and the county board stymied this progress by making a huge issue with them training TOO often, purely based on them spending too much money and over stepping their station. My home club do not play the small ball game.

I'm up here in the big smoke for close on 20 years and I've never seen as many young lads going to school with hurls and helmets as in the last few years. Sure there can be much more done, but equally a lot more can be done to promote football in areas where the GAA has little to no impact. Our little club if nurtured has great potential to blossom, it's great to see the young lads playing up in the field where 7/8 years ago no underage teams togged out. When these lads are old enough to play adult football it will help to secure the future of the club and bring it on to the next stage. Another encouraging thing is that there is an interest locally that has to be tapped into.

Bud Wiser, I've sent you a PM with club details.

That's all good and well lads but the fact is that we are an old club and with all the work being done behind the scenes  a bright future is ahead of us as well. It is a pity that hurling isn't being played anymore in the club but from what I gather it was mainly country lads that kept it going for years and that few locals participated. The neighbouring large clubs field very successful hurling teams at underage and senior. It can be difficult enough to carve into the bigger clubs areas as they are very reluctant to give up any ground, even when you consider that vast areas around here that have little or no clubs serving them.

Thanks Bud, we are an amalgamation from years ago of a few local clubs, hurling and football were played in the day but the hurling unfortunately is no longer played. Our football side was heading the same way up till some dedicated lads got together and started up the underage setup again. This has been a massive success, playing in 'A' level we have beat neighbouring nationally recognised clubs who would be fielding a few teams at each age group. This is the future for us and all clubs really, starting with the youth, it's a great lift for the whole club.

Hi all,

We are a junior club in south county Dublin with a very successful underage setup and are about to undergo development of our existing facilities in the near future. Our adult team has suffered from the gap between the underage teams our present players were on and the absence of underage teams for a number of years afterwards. We have the core of a good team but need players to back this up.

Our first training session is on this Wednesday night at 8.0 pm and all are welcome, whether with the aim of joining the club or just to use the facilities to train for your team at home etc. Footballers of all abilities are welcome, lads that have not played in a while or who want to get back and enjoy the craic whilst getting fit in the process too. If you have any queries ask away here, PM me or contact Paul on (086) 815 6018.

Thanks.

Maybe players in Manulla can chose between the two, if they wish. Not 100% sure but Balla objected before to a Manulla lad playing with Breaffy and it got thrown out so that would indicate Manulla people can choose.
Some view up Burris alright!

There is no ambiguity regarding Manulla at all, it is part of Balla parish. The main choice they have is whether to play GAA and/or soccer, or maybe the other way around ! The case I think you may be referring to is one back in the 90s when a lad who had played all his underage for Balla plus a few years senior transferred over as he couldn't make the senior team regularly enough for his liking. My recollection of this is that Balla did not object.

Lad there told me that the iPhone is coming in tomorrow and is a better deal at 399euro  :o :o :o

The iPhone doesn't have a radio which is surprising. Is there any way to get these cheaper ?
