I wasn't able to make it to Portlaoise yesterday, but I have to say both games were great for drama, action and suspense.

Roscommon were by far the better team against Cork and nearly threw it all away. They will really put it up to Dublin but will need to tighten up big time in defence.

Cavan beat themselves yesterday. If you only score one point in second half of an AI semifinal, you can't blame anyone else on the defeat.
Very disappointed to hear the small minded comments from the Cavan manager. Whatever happened to losing with dignity. Dublin were poor, but its unlikely they will be that bad the next day. Should be a great game.

Load of bull westside. Buying frees, what are you on about? The game was lost due to Dillon seeing black card and Dublin's 13 not. Also moynaghs injury was huge turning point.

If you seen the incident on TV, the Cavan player clearly has a hold of Dublin No 13s jersey and hauls him to the ground with him.

Dubs were very poor in first half. I think Cavan only scored one point in 2nd half.

I remember a few years ago after my team had beaten a team from Cork down there. I got speaking to a Corkman who congratulated me on the teams success but then qualified his remark by saying ''Sure football is only a game for bad hurlers''.

GAA Discussion / Re: Cluxton Red Card

I was at the match. McLoughlin and his team mates had interfered with Cluxtons kickouts on about 5 occasions. It was gamesmanship. The referee and two umpires didn't bother to take any action against this cynical fouling. I don't condone what Cluxton done, it was foolish. However referees have to take action against players who are illegally interfering with keepers taking quick kickouts.

I see the Fingal Co Co declared their independence from Dublin today refusing to be put under a Mayor of Dublin.
Any hope their GAA people might do the same thing and set up their own Co Board? :)

:) you wish

5 days is far too much, especially when you consider the large amount of very elderly residents in the area. 2 concerts would be fine, but 5 is over the top.

And how, pray tell, does it affect elderly residents more than the youngsters?

Basically, if they drive themselves, they can't move their car as their space will be taken. If they don't drive, their families our unable to visit them because there is nowhere to park.

There are over ninety clubs in Dublin, who will all be looking for a slice of the action

Interesting topic. I know my local club has a GPO who is an inter county player from Connacht. As far as I know the club have to match what the county board puts in. I have to say it has made a big difference in the club, enabling them to gain kids who would have been lost to other sports.

I'm amazed at some of the criticism being dished out to Moran. He has turned Mayo into one of the best teams in the country. They lost an All-Ireland by a point, to a team that had only been beaten once in a competitive game all season. Surely its very harsh. Ok they didn't reach the previous heights in the final but they went very close to taking it home. Shame.

Why does this always happen? No one can debate about the money Dublin has received so they turn to talking about amalgamations, other counties and of course the inevitable personal abuse.
I know it's not nice for the Dubs to face the reality that they wouldn't have won any All Ireland recently and would still be also rans in hurling if not for this money but they'll just have to face facts.

Once we sort out this splitting of Dublin, sort out financial issues in plenty of counties and put a cap on the amount spent on inter county teams then we will have fair game once more in inter county football.

Don't think Horan said too much about the cynical fouling towards the end. But then again, after last year's semi final, he couldn't.

Firstly I don't believe in splitting Dublin.

But if the plan is to get everybody on an even footing what would people think of this

Dublin North
Dublin South
Meath/Louth
Offaly/Laois
Longford/Westmeath
Kildare/Wicklow
Wexford/Carlow/Kilkenny/Waterford
Cork
Kerry
Limerick/Tipperary
Mayo
Galway
Sligo/Leitrim
Roscommon/Fermanagh
Antrim/Down
Donegal
Derry/Armagh
Tyrone
Cavan/Monaghan

I know how most of you will feel about the thought of your county amalgamating with another county, well thats how people from Dublin would think of a split.

There is no border between Derry/Armagh or Fermangh/Roscommon.

I'm aware of that, its just an example. I wouldn't take it too seriously
