After one of the most high profile court cases in sports history?  Olding is about 100,000 times more known for his off-field actions than anything he's done on a rugby field. This club is giving him a chance knowing they'll face a backlash for it. Fair play to them for not bowing down to online bullies.
The only person involved in the case who was a genuine victim of online bullies was the complainant.

But sure airbrush that out of history all you want while wallowing in perpetual imagined victimhood on behalf of rugby players who behaved in disgraceful fashion - at best.

Jackson and Olding are NOT victims.
They were found not guilty Sid and a quality player like Jackson would have been snapped up but for the online campaign. I'd prefer justice to be administered by the courts rather than social media.

Interesting that you call out 'online bullies' and not the player for his own scummy behaviour that precipitated this horrible mess.

You've been very quiet in this thread since you were called out on the reasons why you're so defensive of these 'lads' too..
I have other things in my life besides pointless debates with the likes of you. I don't care for your little insinuations either. History has shown that those who are the most zealous preachers like yourself are often the worst abusers. I believe Olding is innocent and hope Brive have a great season as a reward for their courage.

I think Paul would have made the difference. Paul was the one who kept them going in the 3rd quarter in game 5. Gordon was playing a lot of minutes and playing really well with Paul there, so I don't think it's an either/or situation. I agree that Gordon was brilliant and so was Capela. Harden was unlucky with a few calls when he looked to have been fouled shooting for 3 but I'm delighted that sneaky tactic, which Houston have perfected of waiting for a bit of contact and throwing up a 3, backfired. Warriors got the calls last night but delighted for D'Antoni too, who is hateful with his constant barracking of the refs.

The Warriors shot pretty well aside from Draymond, who the Rockets were happy to leave open. Steph was heroic again in the 3rd and turned the game. He is a joy to watch and a great competitor. Durant broke the Rocket's hearts with some ridiculous shots while being defended perfectly. He plays a bit soft though and only had 5 rebounds in 44 minutes. Steph had 8. Gordon beat KD for one 50/50 rebound when the Warriors were struggling. The offensive rebounding of the Rockets was killing them and they were very lucky to be still in it at half-time thanks to poor Rockets shooting.  Draymond  has to take a lot of the responsibility for all those rebounds too and he had a lot of turnovers again. One of the commentators was raving about his performance but I thought he was sloppy again. Klay was very good while he was on the court but those early fouls were really dumb and put his team in big trouble.

With Iggy due back soon they should be able to put the Cavs away in 4 or 5.

3-2 Rockets but Chris Paul looked like he did his hamstring.
Very messy but very exciting game.

The Warriors were poor again. Klay was awful in the first half but battled through it and started making some big shots in the 2nd. Curry battled back from a poor start too and again had some great drives to the basket but has lost his shooting mojo. Draymond tried as hard as ever but was sloppy and had 6 turnovers. I thought Durant was very poor last night even though he scored 29 and is like a separate entity on this team. Just seemed to be forcing it all night. dribbling into traffic and taking terrible shots. He made a few great 3s but his performance was worse than his numbers would suggest.

Iggy has been a huge loss obviously.

In the last 2 games the Warriors had possessions to win or tie in the last 30 seconds. They looked clueless and panicked, took bad options and you'd have to blame that on Kerr.

Hard to see Paul being right for the rest of the series and if he is done you'd still have to make the Warriors favorites.

I see in his post game interview he says that Draymond was trying to call one and that the officials weren't looking towards the bench for him to call one.

The GSW big players all shot poorly and terribly in the 4th. There seemed to be a lot of dumb shot choices too and the ball movement wasn't good.

Rockets back in control. Crazy game of 4 quarters. Warriors blew it in 4th quarter scoring only 12 points.

Curry got hot for a bit in the 3rd but other than that the warriors were off tonight. Need to win in Houston now, going to be tough
A lot of Warriors fans furious with Kerr for not calling the timeout when Klay got stuck with a few seconds left.  Also for benching Curry when he'd caught fire and the Rockets immediately went on a run.

With Klay and Iguadala carrying knocks now and home advantage lost, it's not looking great.

No McDonagh or Ring results given!!!!

Give both those competitions to TG4/Eirsport and watch them flourish.

As for a tiered football competition, RTE would treat it with disdain.
Excellent idea. Tg4 or Eir would do wonders with them.

Same old. Very short highlights of Tyrone v Monaghan followed by analysis 2 or 3 times as long. Pat went to great lengths to emphasise that it was a great game when they could have just been showing us that it was a great game. They only showed Mc Manus' wonder point during the analysis.

I'm a week late with this but just watched nunes v Pennington, not having heard about the controversy around Pennington's corner not stopping the fight when asked by her at the end of the 4th. I see some UFC fighters have come out in defence of her corner but I can't see how. Her nose was badly busted and she was never going to turn the fight around. They sent her out for further battering and disfiguration which she duly got. I'm not usually squeamish about UFC but this was gruesome. Also thought the ref was way too slow to stop it. There was a red puddle under her by the time he called a halt.

Lebron with plenty of support tonight and a 30 pound win. Hasn't been a close one yet. Pressure on the Warriors tomorrow night
The Celtics were pitiful. They scored 4 points in the first 7 minutes and we're already 16 down, mainly due to their own mistakes and missed open shots. Some great defensive plays from LeBron too and those one handed bounce passes, off the dribble were beautiful. It all stems from him but the supporting cast played well too.

Bill Simmons was talking about fans at the Boston Garden shouting "don't shoot" when Morris or Smart get the ball. You could see why last night and why Brad Stephens is getting so much credit for getting this bunch of players so far.

It's a waste of time talking to managers after a game. "Breaks didn't go our way, look they're a good team, look we've a lot of work to do". Horseshit.
+1.

Joe Canning gave a great, honest interview to Vincent Hogan before the Tipp match last year, when he gave the performance that won him hurler of the year. The interview won awards and Galway won the All-Ireland but players still live in terror of saying anything interesting to the media.

As any real GAA man will tell you Syfīn it's all about what you do after May Day.
And ad for Captain saying only Yanks call the 11 aside stuff Soccer.... 98% of GAA people call it soccer and most non British TV immersed people in Ireland call it Soccer.
So I'll be ignoring your ramblings from now on as your obviously not a GAA person at all.
Where did you get the 98% figure? The official name of the sport across the water is football the Captain is right. The term Soccer nothing more than a nickname.

In fairness I think I agree with Rossfan for once. 98% is obviously made up, but most GAA people call soccer soccer, and football is Gaelic Football.
With the lack of use of the foot in modern Gaelic football people will soon be calling it fist ball

Now back to the topic. No live game on RTE this weekend other than hurling i hope the Sunday Game pull out all of the stops and shows good highlights of Limerick v Clare and Tipperary v Waterford or am i expecting too much?
Probably. I find the highlights packages on TSG very frustrating. The primary goal should be to show all scores from play and other very key incidents. If a lad gets sent off with his 2nd yellow in injury time we don't need to see that. There's also no need for replays in a highlights package.

Last week, they devoted 18 minutes to Galway v Offaly. 2 minutes intro, 6 minutes highlights, 2 minutes interviews and 8 minutes analysis. They showed 5-1 of Galway's scores and 2-2 of Offaly's. The totals scored from play were Galway 5-11 Offaly 2-6. That's 24 scores from play and then there were Cahills two great saves from Canning which they also showed. That's 26 things worth showing. Say a 15 - 20 second clip for each without replays would take 7 or 8 minutes. It would be a tighter, much more useful and entertaining package.

Just one more week till this thing is over. Has there ever been a greater platform for self-righteous phoneys(on both sides)? From John Waters(and there's loads more like him on the No side), with his "how dare you interrupt me from saving thousands of babies from their black-capped executioners with your perfectly reasonable questions" outburst, to Yes voters getting outraged over phrases like "abortion on demand"(I've no issue with people voting for abortion but for jaysus sake be honest about what you're voting for), both sides of this debate have been sickening.

The only worthwhile and persuasive element of the debate that I've heard were the stories of women who've travelled full of shame and fear to England for abortions. That, allied to the laughable hypocrisy of our constitution which protects their right to travel for abortions is enough reason to vote yes.

Thank God there's another fantastic weekend of sport in store so we can escape from listening to the pontificators.
