Since travel expenses are paid you cannot use that time.

Point of order mr chairman... not interested in this debate as its irrelevent but on the above point, travel expenses are a vehicle allowance only. fuel and wear & tear. you cannot pay administrators, players or managers for their time and get away with it.

Your doomsday scenario is based on the assumption that people are going to stop volunteering to work for their clubs en masse because of this. I don't believe for one minute that volunteer work in clubs will be affected at all and i doubt if any right thinking gaa man believes that either.

As i said from the outset, Conway has a very good point in terms of the workings of the association and if he felt strongly about it he should have worked to alter it within the associations structures. unfortunately his message was diluted by the wild hysteria of the elk meeting and the PR search which ensued. when i ask lads casually about why they think conway quit whatever it is he's quit, the answer varies from "he's anti gpa" through "he objects to the GAA's money being paid to players" to "he feels the GAA have gone about this all wrong".

I would not be so worried about the number of people interested in inter county matches, as the number of people that don't want to cut the grass, fix the catch wire, sell the tickets, train the U-12s, join the county board etc etc.

Honest to god now, you really believe that?

You'd be a very poor clubman to abandon it for such an abstract reason.

this isnt the first time marsden has ignored a question if it doesnt suit his agenda.he also done this on the armagh thread a while back thats why he should be ignored.if you ignore questions because you are wrong it makes your futur arguments so so so weak

what question?  do note that all 5 posters who are questioning me are confining themselves to just that and make no attempt to dispute or debate any posts i've made.

Holiness, i know this can't be your first dy on an internet forum as i've seen you post previously. Posting personal details without consent will leave the entire dicussion board open to prosecution. if i did post it, you'd say i was lying anyway, so what's the point!

More realistically orangeman, could you go back through and edit all the posts you've made stupid and irrelevent statements on?
#37

There's hardly a line you post that doesn't betray total ignorance of the facts or at the very least mis understanding.

On your latest post.

Nobody in the else have any reason to feel embarassed. It's the GPA who should feel embarassed and ashamed.

Now they're stirring the shite in Cork too.

Were you in the elk? The meeting was to oppose the GAA's decision making process. nothing to do with the GPA.

I've seen mention of the GPA in the dealings in cork. perhaps you could enlighten me?

Of course The GPA should consult with club tyrone on welfare issues..

That's a laughable comment.  How could the GPA even come close to providing Tyrone footballers with the kind of support provided by Club Tyrone?  GPA arrogance clearly knows no bounds!

FYI - it is the role of tyrone county board to provide for the welfare needs of their players. it is the job of the players body to lobby for these needs to be met. no you fire away and manipulate that for whatever irrelevent argument you're going to come up with next.

Holiness - why bother trying to discuss the issues when noone else is interested in them beyond the headlines. As far as i'm concerned the people at the ELK meeting waving euro notes did a good enough job embarassing themelves by not having a coherent message and disregarding the procedures of the association they profess to be saving.

You sound like one of the Branch Davidians after David Koresh met his demise. i do note the lack of any reaction from anyone significnt in tyrone though...
#43

His point on procedure is a very good one of course, so long as the constitution provides that all of these decisions must be returned to the individual membership. should the membership now resign en masse? did he feel that his contribution to the association was compromised by a perceived breakdown in democracy?
#44

Ridiculous state of affairs. How do these panels expect to overturn a convention vote without convincing the clubs to change their minds?

You must have a very blinkered management and a very weak county board.

For God sake Armagh is as bad if not worse.

Not quite as bad but would be that and worse if they could get away with it.
