Fair enough - I was only givin a bit of stick earlier but you seem to really want me to say it.

Are you going to cut another deal with those in charge like you did with the ruc after you won the great 'double double' some years ago to save your hides this time?

Jesus man you dont stop do you.

Franko finally cuts to the chase....I was wondering when he would say it!

I thried my best to keep it light hearted - but that man was like a dog with a bone! :) ???  You'd think he wanted everyone to know about their dodgy climbdowns!

Wrong again Franko, you're making quite a habit of this ;D ;D

In what sense...?  Or would someone just be avoiding the issue...??? ;)

Nice to see I ruffled a few feathers anyway ;D

Not ruffled in the slightest.  Takes more than a dimwit like you trying to stir things up.

Nice to see you dodged the question again but anyway - I'll take it from the insult that I've got a raise!  ;)

Good luck with the appeals lads... I am totally in agreement that some of the bans were way OTT.

Though I dont think sending a posse to the barracks in maghera will save you this time....! ;D ;D ;D :o :o

What exactly is your question?  All I'm seeing is blah, blah, blah.

What has Maghera barracks go to do with this thread?

Is it an insult if it's true??? ;D ;D ;D

a. The question is the sentence which immediately precedes the question mark.

b. The connection between maghera barracks and this thread is Slaughtneil club

c.  :o :o... is somebody cross!!!

I was just havin a bit of banter earlier... lighten up man... dont get the knickers in a knot! ;)

Looks like you're dogdin the issue now. Have the guts to start what you finish. Your attempt to lighten matters now doesn't disguise your original intent.

banning all 40 players on the teamsheet wouldn't stand up if challenged in court. you are convicying and punishing men without producing evidence against them. the DCB would also be open to charges of defamation of charachter.

if the appeal fails i assume court is where we'll see it settled

Surely Slaughtneil, being renowned (as it is) to be a staunch republican club wouldn't want to be seen colluding with the forces of the crown to get away with their wrongdoings.... again....  :o;)

23   GAA Discussion / GAA Discussion / Re: How do we cut out violence in Gaelic Games?  on: July 28, 2008, 03:57:31 PM

To be complaining about our current game being too violent is ludicrous. The simple fact is that gaelic football (for a contact sport) is not currently troubled by an undue level of violence.  I dont know where the inspiration from this thread came from...

Nuff said.

What????  I dont think you are grasping what I was referring to...!!

I know exactly what you're trying to do. Mix it somewhere else.

Now we're getting somewhere! :D ;)  Thats exactly the attitude that got you into this bother.

Someone should tell you mountain men that other people may be allowed to say and do things that you might not like without getting a slap/soaked in water/told to f**k off etc etc... :o

You see that's where you're wrong. In any walk of life, you just can't go around insulting people and expect it to go unchallenged.

You see thats where you are wrong.  I didnt inuslt anybody.  I merely brought up something from your club's (not too distant) past that you didn't like mentioned.  I'd like you to point out the where the insult was in my comment.  You cant go round doing things like that and then take offence when somebody brings it up... ;)  Dry your eyes!!!!!!!! :o

Why strange? Must we all like the same thing?

The missus thought it was quite good, I felt it was average.

Maybe after Phoenix Nights I expected more.

I half expected that sort of a reply - no of course we mustnt all like the same thing - that would be no fun but I was just pointing out that everyone I talked to about thought it was hilarios and that it would have taken a strange sense of humour not to enjoy it.  However,I see that someone else agrees with you so maybe its not that strange after all.....

I didnt really like it.
Few bits made me laugh but overall wasnt impressed.

I must have talked to 15 people today about the show and I have yet to hear anybody say they didnt like it.  Thats one helluva strange sense of humour you must have...

A lot of these have probably been mentioned before but anyway...

People who drive at 50mph in a 60 limit
People who don't use signals at roundabouts (esp mini roundabouts)
People who don't acknowledge you when you let them pull out or do them a good turn on the road
Commentators calling a short free a 'quick free' no matter if it took the player 20 minutes to take it
People looking a free in a hurling match when someone loses their hurl and continues to tackle an opponent (the 'he's got no hurl!' shout) - it's not a bloody foul!!
Undercooked chips
People who cant listen to a reasonable argument
Long masses
Getting beat by a point
Cars with blue headlights – always think they are the cops coming up behind me
People who go out for a night to have a row
Careless match reports in newspapers where the journalists obviously haven't bothered their holes to check facts but just throw in a few famous players' named and a few well worn clichés to make up the stories
People who believe (and act on) what they read for their horoscopes in the newspapers - I mean for god's sake...!

And many more

I'm a crabit hoor

General discussion / Re: Greatest Irish Sportsperson
August 12, 2008, 06:45:10 PM
Completely agree Bogball - had to speak up cos I was getting fed up reading the stupid replies!  The 66 on Sunday was exceptional - and would have taken some beating. However, the 66 on the saturday was not by any means a truly great round of golf and took full advantage of the timing/conditions.  The fact that the course record of 65 was set that day only goes to prove this.

I also have to laugh at the suggestions that Tiger Woods couldnt have shot 66, 66 in the final two rounds.  The man is unquestionably the greatest golfer in history - how can you possibly say that he wouldnt have been capable of equalling Harrington's score????  Smacks a bit of the old rose tinted jam jars....!

The whole 'asterisk' conversation I do feel is slightly unfair - however life is a bitch and the fact that it is being debated on here only goes to prove that it is on people's minds. Whether or not it will be forgotten about in years to come - only time will tell.

And on the topic of the thread  - yes I do believe that Harrington is now the greatest ever Irish sportsman. (And i'm not sure of the exact figures but I'd be willing to bet that there are more professional golfers in the world than professional middle distance runners...)

Queens in Belfast has an almost full size 3G pitch. Best example I have seen.

The PEC (Queens) one is pretty crap - the "grass" is nearly all gone.

You'll find much better examples at:

Olympia leisure centre
Whiterock leisure centre
House of sport

Havent played on it in about 18 months - but it certainly was top class back then.  Does this happen to all 3G pitches....??
