GAA Discussion / Re: Tyrone v Fermanagh

Team due out tonight wioth a few changes apparantly. Would expect SON back in woth maybe Rouse or McCullogh alongside.

hopefully the Penrose 'experiment' is now over and Justy McMahon will nip in.

Hub for MF and we are all set.

(As said before) Think this will be close indeed. Owens usually has a good game on SON and after the win last year Fermanagh will have no fear of coming to Omagh.

however I would expect the defeat in Fermanagh, the size of the panel, the players who will have points to prove and the momentum started in Dublin added to last years overall debacle should ensure a very hungry red hand team.

That is if it goes ahead................

Fully expected to get beat on Sat and was therefore well pleased with the win.

Spoke mto a Dungannon lad beofre the game who said Cavo was simply told he 'wasn't needed' for the game - strange one that, hopefully he;ll still be in MH plans for the rest of the summer.

Thought Cormac was very average at FB - this should be Joeys spot for the CHampionshiop., although the EC connection seems to hold a lot of sway.

Mulgrew finally seems to be showing talent to match some of the hype we've all heard and young Cavanagh was reasonably good (less said about his fuirst half effort right enouhg.

Overall difficult to take a lot away - team spirit good, some nice talent emerging and with McGuigan et al due back summer looks good

QuoteIf this was last years league game in Omagh that question probably wouldn't even be asked

and whats wrong with asking the question now?????? after Cavlans last showing he deserved a spot on the bench at least, injury permitting

According to the Daily Mirror Cavo isn't even on the bench - you would have to assume some sort of injury???

Agree entirely Mugsy is def no CHF. Needs to have a big game on Sat as our "Marquee Forward" (C) Brolly

McGinley has some kind of indian sign over MH the way he keeps that FB spot and to be honest the HB line looks very worrying.

Ryan Mellon has done little since the 2005 final  to justify selection although he may be in to make up a 3rd MF if the Dubs start to take a grip there.

Still - bench does look good.

Jaysus - Penrose at HB I predict a disaster.

Cavo must be a wee bit disappointed not to make that team.

Armagh if they discover a plan B, and a CHF, and an injury free Ronan Clarke, and more wool for referees eyes and a leash for Thug McKeever

Quotebecause you have as many new guys as we have.
casey hasn't played any football. etc.
a new full back
a 19 year old kicking frees-

cullen-whelan-quinn-cahill that's as many as you're misssing). so don't give us that load of b*****.

Hmmm...typical Dub bulls**t again from Josey

- doesn't matter what age you are if you can knock over frees (and Mossy was hardly the most reliable)
- Cullen, Whelan, Quinn, Cahill = 4 players, Tyrone are missing 7 regulars  - can't you count?
- a new full back -were the other options any better

Dublin should take tihs handy.

Have to laugh at the Dubs on here..................SON, Jordan, Dooher, Holmes, Gourley, Gormley(prob) and McGuigan all out of the game on Sat, Dubs with bulk of the supporters and home advantage, motor fresh from a match the week before, - how can they talk this up into anything other than a nailed on win for Dublin is beyond me

Dublin game will be a HUGE opportunity for lads to make a claim for the Championship.

If we look at it rationally SON, McGuigan, Dooher, Jordan and Gormely will  all be nailed on certs to start if available and fit.

Hub has been the best MF partner Sean has had to date and Should really be given opportunity to re-establish himself in there.

There needs to be a role for big Joey. IMHO a far better option at FB than McGinley.

Colm McCullogh has yet to return and is a better option than Penrose in the forwards. Mellons form may count against him, although I remenber a few games when he loooked the business in MF (esp v Galway, 2003 NFL)

Mulgrew the wonderkid needs to start showing why MH has such great faith in him.

So for my money there are 2 forward spots, 1 MF, 1 HB and FB, GK and CB spots up for grabs.

No real candidate for back up CHF has emerged other than Cavo.

The paper is in danger of becoming a laughing stock alright - not so much the head to head guff (and being able to count would be a plus for that journo)

rather that following on the heels of All IReland Champions Derry appearing in last years MCKenna final we now have the lead question in the big interview asking Joe Kernan why Armagh havn't appeared in the final since they won the AI in 2003?

Surely this is the type of misatke a 7 yr old wouldn't make - basic stuff that shouldn't even need research from any jouno with an interest in Northern GAA?????
