The whistle is so loud with the microphone! It's all very Aussie rules

I'm certain Leinster have not kept 3 forwards inside the 45 on several occasions which is meant to be a free at the opposite goal

Ref hasn't called it? Seems difficult to enforce that rule from the ref

Quote from: AustinPowers on October 18, 2024, 06:41:34 PMWhatever about the success of  these rules trials, I hope  this means the Railway cup  is  back in the calendar

No reason why  it can't be. Only county finalists  arent available at this stage of the season. But HQ only seen to want to  make an effort when it  suits them, so this  will probably be a one off
I'd agreed if it was marketed properly and well in advance. I don't think this was and the crowd is fairly small even with cheap tickets.

Too many rule changes here, didn't hear any mention of 4 quarters of 15 minutes and a buzzer? Just like Aussie Rules.

Tackle still a big issue that's not changed.

Think having this in an empty Croke Park with not atmosphere isn't helping. It's a bit boring so far.

Another issue so far is the likes of this game was over as a contest after 5 minutes, could lead to too much of a scoring gap especially with teams good at 2 pointers.

If you're that obsessed with lowly Cavan football maybe ask your Tyrone manager he'll tell you.

You know the man you're paying 120,000 quid to manage Tyrone. Because yous can't find a man in Tyrone to do it unlike every other county.

From a county that won the Leinster Junior Championship in 2014 this shouldn't really surprise anyone, embarrassed for all concerned

Guaranteed they down tools next year at SFC level
Stick to the Man United thread lad not sure you know much about Gaelic football.

Says a lot that Tyrone clowns are jabbering about tiny clubs in Cavan these days. The fall has been dramatic.

Mostly just nonsensical slabbering from fools but tiresome none the less.
Many people on here commented on that including general lee....

Quote from: general_lee on October 09, 2023, 02:36:09 PMHow are Glenullin still Intermediate? Did they not win it last year or the year before?
That same poster blathered about the Cavan teams all year.

Quote from: bennydorano on October 13, 2024, 03:06:28 PMWas the Derry thing not a County board mess? A reorganisation of league structure?

I actually think the Cavan system is a bit of a joke. 'Junior' teams playing (presumably) senior & intermediate standard clubs in Div 1 are being exposed to a consistently higher standard of football all season long. Great for their development but not for others when it comes to the Ulster series. The linking of leagues & championships works in other counties, it is a simple solution to get a level playing field.

That Derry structure is still in place this year so Glenulin were in Intermediate this year again after winning the previous 2 Intermediate championships and Balymacuigan the Junior champions stayed in Junior also.

So don't know how that structure is fair or your making excuses

Reason Cavan will amount to nothing
That is all
How's that exactly? Real idiotic posts on this forum about Cavan teams.

None of them makes any sense. Pretty sure Knockbride have been junior for like 20 years and never won anything.

Quote from: GTP on October 12, 2024, 09:01:15 PMBig mistake from whoever decided to put this game on TV. Neutrals would have still gone to Glen Slaughtneil if on RTE providing some atmosphere. And with both clubs having a profile beyond Derry even if it was rubbish would still have provided interest to viewers.
With respect to both clubs tonight very few going to choose a cold night in owenbeg to watch them. It has made Derry GAA look a bit small time.
I'm not from Derry but I agree, also the Sky guide RTE said this was the Derry football final and I assumed it was Glen Slaughtneil until I tuned in.

No idea why RTE picked this, to be honest at this stage RTE and TG4 should be just showing county finals even if they're from smaller counties.

From a defensive point of view surely  work could have been done to define the tackling and one on one tackles, shoulders etc for these rules changes

One of the main reasons teams pack the defense is because players can no longer win the ball one on one without fouls being given and so the only method we get now is swarming of 4 or 5 players on one and a free given. Which really is quite new and nonsensical based on the rules.

Quote from: Low and Hard on July 29, 2024, 10:08:13 AMYesterday just goes to show the importance of a reliable free taker when the pressure is on. Shane Walsh made some strange decisions on frees. The two he missed in first half were crucial, can't understand why Tierney didn't hit the left sided one & why Walsh didn't steal 4/5 yards in the run up from the one near cusack stand side to make it a formality. For me Galway win the game if they nail them 2 scores.
Agree they will really rue those misses, shows exactly how important the frees are in low scoring games like that. Hard to begrudge Armagh really but Galway will surely feel it was going to be their year after dethroning Dublin and beating Donegal.

I always felt Armagh were capable of at least making finals if they got it together as they have a very strong forward line and about 20 something players that can really be effective so strong from the bench too. You just can't rely on a couple of star forwards at that level, every forward and attacking player needs to chip in scores. That's another reason Dublin were so hard to stop due to the depth.

Quote from: Look-Up! on July 13, 2024, 08:02:16 PMMassive congratulations to Armagh. Absolutely delighted for ye. Nothing won yet but a brilliant achievement to get to AI final and will be very special occasion. Brilliant that it's against Donegal or Galway too. I think for us neutrals, everyone is a winner.
And delighted for Geezer. A brilliant coach, often vilified, but a legendary player who walked the walk and never asks anything off a player he wouldn't do himself. A player's player and a player's coach.

Yeah it's hard not to be happy for McGeeney especially after losing on penalties several times, they were always very close and didn't get over the line. They have a great squad of footballers no doubt about it.

Happy Armagh won that, they deserved it fully, great support there today and good for the game to have 2 teams in the final that aren't Kerry or Dublin.
