Cant believe no one has mentioned Barney v Baxter last night. What a game! Would have loved to see Baxter won it, on 2 or 3 occasions it looked very likely.
Class match in which Baxter very much lost it. His double takin was excellent but barney won it in sudden death at the end ala the barney taylor final of a few years ago. Best match this year for a cert. Dunno why there hasn been more word of it on here. My heart was in my mouth. Barney very emotional after it!

Tyrone forward Brian McGuigan says he feared he would never play football again during his long absence from the game.

The three-time All-Ireland winner suffered a number of injuries, including a broken leg, after the 2005 All-Ireland victory. However, the most serious problem occurred when he damaged his eye in a challenge game for his club. McGuigan came close to losing his sight and he says he feels he will never get back to the level of play which cemented his reputation as one of the game's most intelligent and cerebral attackers.

"You're saying to yourself, 'You were that good and now you can never be that good again'," he says in an interview with The Sunday Times.

"I will never be the same player again because I can't fully see on my left side. I could have seen somebody making a run out of the corner of my eye before but I have to see him directly now and that might be too late. I'm fully aware of that but I still feel I can do a job for Tyrone."

Of his time out during his eyes problems, which lasted for almost two years, McGuigan said: "A year and a half ago, I never thought I'd get back to where I was,"

"Even just kicking a ball around the garden would have been enough. But to feature in an All-Ireland final was unbelievable.

"I was near enough to tears because I was saying to myself, 'Is this really happening?'. Having that time on my own afterwards was something I had to do. Because I never thought I'd be back."

The injury to his eye happened when playing for his club Ardboe against Aghyaran and an opposition player made a reckless, late challenge.

McGuigan is still bitter about the incident and the response from the club and player involved, who failed to even ring the centre-forward.

"If he's low enough not to ring me, that's up to him but he has to live with it too, at the end of the day," he said.

"He didn't mean to do that much damage but I'm still angry about what happened that day. This boy comes out and does damage to some boy who plays with the county. Then that boy is shouting for you in the summer - but it seems to be a big part of club football in Tyrone that the county players get a lot of hassle in games.

"You never really hear of it happening in other counties that county players are getting so intimidated in club football."

to get back.

Push for the 1st goal but poor postiioning by dawson.
Thought the sending off was harsh myself, the rules of the game have gone mad, Assou Ekotto tries to do a piroutte on the ball and Zuiverloon made a meal of it.
Disappointing result

pure class today and has been the form midfielder in the prem this year bar none. Worth 15-20m now and not the 5m that he was going to Funderland for. Outstanding player even if he did have a dodgy hair transplant! sparky has called him the shining light this season. Phil brown very good manager did the right thing today in bringing his dung over to the fans at HT. Paul Mc Shane wouldn get a game with Linfield either.

I'd like to see soemthing similar Corn, maybe along the lines of;

Rodgers / mcEvoy

Moriarty      K Toner      Smyth

Donaghy     McKeever     JP Donnelly

          Mackin       Lavery

McClelland      Mallon        S O'Neill

Henderson     R Austin     Michael O'Rourke

Then the next week bring in the likes of Aidan and Martin O'Rourke, Paddy McKeever and Ronan Clarke to replace some of the more experienced players and give a few of the newer members of the panel a run as well.

Thought there would be a bit more debate on here about it.

No Harps men I see. I thought Morrison was going to get a run, I take it Kelly did not get a trial?

No Toal, he must be going for the soccer big style. Disappointed, a cracking player.
Was never dying bout toal corn. Seemed to be hot and cold and anytime i seen him he was always cold. Bit of a moonman aswell. Good luck to him with the soccer.

Fair play to Kevin on his venture and the best of luck with it. I dont mind Mhic Easmuint givng the business a plug on here. Why not? Its GAA based and its not like pop up advertisements saying we have won an Audi A4! We can look at it if we like and if we dont like it dont bother. Ok SS2? As for the business, Kevin has found a niche here (Similar to Aidan O Rourke's Sporting Visions enterprise) where the GAA is lacking and He has expoited it. Fair play. His use of Nutritionists and S+C coaches is ambitious and innovative. Seems a wonderful idea but the only thing is with the countrys finances tightening up, clubs committees might see it as an expense not needed.

Didn't see the match tonight, anyone who did? Wasn't looking too good for a good while, but at least the result was got in the end to get through, seems that we will have one of the third-placed CL teams now, a few tricky prospects there if so.
Didnt see it either Owen but must search for the highlights now. Decent result considering we were vastly depleted against a quality Moscow side. Interesting comment from Harold after who said that that would be Gilbertos last game for the club. Another great signing by Commolli!
