That's the nature of sport and there will always be right and wrong decisions made by refs and always fans and even neutrals with different views on decisions. Some think Hurson is a great ref and some think he's brutal.

I have watched the incident with Kerry keeper Ryan hitting McGuigan with his backside several times now and I still can't make my mind up whether it's a foul or not.
With every incident I always try to look at it through the other person's eyes or how would I feel if the same thing happened to ne of our players.

I think it would do no harm for the GAA to try to educate fans in some way about how hard a job it is to referee a match, how they only get a second to make their mind up with no replays and that they try their best to not show any bias to one team over another. A lot of fans have never played the game or fully understand the rules.

On another note, is it time to follow other sports and let refs use the camera action to make a decisive call when they're not sure. Making mistakes is part of the game but would people prefer that to the ref stopping the game and looking for advice from another ref watching it on TV where he is more likely to make the right call, even if it takes a bit more time?
Obviously that can only happen in the bigger televised matches and not in club games etc.
Imagine the impact of that? Louth could have another Leinster title. Derry might be in an AI final.  ;)

staggering, if you don't realise thats a stone wall foul.

How do you think it is a foul? No way is that a foul. What do you want the player to do in that situation? Just let the Derry player take the ball and not go for the ball himself??

Ball was there to be won, kerry keeper jumped and won the ball, it was unfortunate that mcguigan was standing in his way and got clattered.

General discussion / Re: Is University worth it?

Went to university myself and studied an engineering degree. Wishy washy as f**k. Learnt a lot about everything but nothing about anything in full. Gave a brief understanding of various topics. I had 2 Indian lecturers who the whole class couldn't understand as they had such strong Indian accents. It got the the point we stopped going to the classes because it was a waste of time, we just looked at the powerpoint slides ourselves.
Had great craic drinking 3/4 days during the week with all my mates. Cracking open cans of beer at 10am and things like that. House parties, night clubs, and all that comes with it.

When i finally graduated i had to learn on the job. I would say i used about 5% of the things i learnt at uni in my working career.

Hope your keeping well PJ. But yes as others have mentioned a nice long walk, or even some sort of run if possible is always a good help. Exercising releases natural endorphins into our body and levels you feeling great after wards. Me personally, anytime im feeling low or down i go for a nice long run (7-8k), followed by a trip to the local leisure Centre for a dip in the pool/sauna/steam room/ice bath. It leaves me feeling really refreshed and chilled out. \i\ then grab myself some food, or a coffee and a bun and chill out in the cafe/coffee shop.

I know this is quite specific but i see it as almost a spa day type of thing. Some me time, which leaves me feeling great

You would think nurses didn't know that is was a famously underpaid profession when they signed up to be one. They are all the same with their loud mouth personalities when I was in hospital. Actually the thought of having to be around nurses makes me want to live a healthy lifestyle to avoid hospitals.
What a horrible comment. It is not fair to tar them all with the one brush. It is like any profession these days

+1    very sad individual to write something like that.

signed up two weeks ago, obvious troll.
I would put my money on it...

Armagh should win this game comfortably enough i think. Cavan aren't a bad side, but aren't great either. I think armaghs last 2 seasons playing in the top division, along with Cavans playing in the bottom and 3rd division will stand to them

Monaghan are brutal. Add in the suspension of 2 players and McManus playing little to no football this last while. Armagh will be fine

What was the original fall out with Lacey and the co board over? Was it money? Was he looking money to coach the academy? If so, by all reports he would have deserved a wage out of it saying how well it was run.

All the best Tbrick, sounds like you are under a lot of pressure, teenagers can be tricky.

Is your son sporty? I used to always enjoy playing a few games of tennis/squash with my old man followed by a bite of lunch etc. I enjoyed the competitiveness of it and really helped bring both of our guards down.
Something fun with a bit of craic, somewhere/something were you both can have a laugh for a couple of hours/days, and come home feeling refreshed and in good form.

Hope you get something sorted to take both of your minds of the recent struggles

Started a gym programme in January. Have seen good improvement in my body but massive improvements in my mentality. Happier and more alert whereas before some days were a struggle
Have really tidied up my diet and been consistent in the gym
I do still have a good bit of chocolate and the odd takeaway at the weekends but such a different state of mind
I really had let myself go

Its crazy how much better you feel mentally when you are training/in decent physical shape. I defiantly appreciate the odd bag of sweets or bar of chocolate a lot more now. I look forward to the a takeaway on a Friday or Saturday night now and don't feel guilty or disgusting after eating it because I know I've earned it.

What would you do if your child came to you at 13/14 years of age and said that they want to become a horse and live in a field and eat grass all day?
#28
That is a very fair question, althought the chances of this happening are extremely slim.

Especially with the environment my kids are brought up in. I would like to think my kids have been raised with the correct morals etc to see how messed up that shit is. AKA i don't think my kids are going to grow up to become attention seeking perverts. (fingers crossed)

I am getting some laugh at all you clowns sticking up for this whole trans issue, coming out with words like transphobia etc  ;D ;D
Catch yourself on you fools you are part of the problem. These people should not be given the time of day. The more media coverage etc the more our young people are exposed to this nonsense, thinking this is the norm when it really is not!
If you want to be a transexual knock yourself out, i really couldn't care.... until it starts effecting me and my childrens rights/safety
If you want to identify as a horse i couldn't care less.... until they start running around the track at cheltenham.

Mikey Johnston to play for the Republic

https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/international-soccer/celtics-scottish-winger-mikey-johnston-opts-to-play-for-ireland-42365883.html

Just goes to show the absolute state of the national team when they are snapping up donkeys like this. He is an awful footballer. Will fit right in.
