Quote from: Hoof Hearted on June 16, 2024, 09:03:29 AMThe standalone day next Sunday to promote Tailtean Cup may not happen now. Wexford have a feile and and are asking the hurling double header to be moved to the Sunday. If this happens, the Tailtean double header gets moved to the Saturday along with the Sam maguire matches.

The GAA will demote the Tailteann semi finals, like they did last summer when they put the Mayo Galway game on at same time as the semis. Their so called promotion of this competition is a joke. As is RTEs, the Saturday game gave less than 5 minutes in total to 3 games and chat after . They didn't even discuss the Down v Wicklow game. Sound bites with music playing in the background. No analysis nothing. But that's rte and the gaa for you. They reap what they sow.

With Paul Flynn,Seán Cavanagh on the analysis you missed nothing.

Cavanagh was actually  decent last night.  As for Flynn,  I've no idea. I just  seem to zone out anytime he  speaks.

Quote from: nrico2006 on June 15, 2024, 09:05:24 PMShould be top 2 through only. Pointless having groups where all teams nearly go through.

Only those three words were  needed.

A knockout last 16 would  have been better  than this group nonsense . And matches could have been spread out more

The Euros need to go back to an 8 team tournament  , like back in Euro 88. Too many teams totally  out  of their depth

Well, technically you're correct!  :)

Ha ha, true!

Is it Aliens?  Fracking? Father Purcell  , the humming priest from Father Ted?

Quote from: An Watcher on June 12, 2024, 05:20:35 PMI see the Dutch are a decent price but have picked up a few injuries.  Should make it to the quarters were Portugal could await.  18/1

I have a feeling  a lesser fancied team could win this. The likes of Czech Republic, Turkey , Switzerland Denmark.

So, Brolly gets on average 50  letters/hate Mail  a week.  Aye , dead on. Because you're that important . An absolute spoofer.

There's the   thing  about  narcissists. You can't trust one  word  that comes out of their mouths
I'd actually believe that tbh. Some people really do have little to be at

I wouldn't believe  a word Brolly said. If he said   the grass was  green I'd have to go check for myself

Everything is  twisted and turned around, to make it  all about him and his  enormous ego

Quote from: NAG1 on June 12, 2024, 08:36:29 AMThe chat I have read and seen is that Southgate is seen as a viable candidate once he is away from England. So unless ETH has a seriously improved start to the league he will be under pressure instantly.

INEOS and the Glazers are one of the same if he was appointed at any stage.

Quote from: AustinPowers on June 12, 2024, 10:30:28 AMI'd say he'll do well  to see the new year
You said the same when he first arrived.

I probably did

But was his first  season any better than Poch at Chelsea?  I thought yhat first season  was  very overhyped.  And last season  was shambolic.

My only conclusion is, like John O Shea with Ireland , is that they put the feelers out  and nobody obviously wanted  the  job , so the board  are now "backing the manager ". In reality , they  had no other choice

PS.  I expect O Shea to  be named Ireland manager for the same reason

Quote from: weareros on June 12, 2024, 01:07:17 PMUnionism played so dirty on this one. Future funding for Casement was suddenly responsible for the dire state of the health service and not the 100 years of Unionist/British misrule. Casement won't be funded and the health service will still be on its feet. I hope FAI insist that Ireland get one of the two automatic spots for Euro 28 (even if we are shite). Let GB decide how they want to allocate the other spot. That will soften their cough. Irish government/GAA should continue to fund a great stadium in Belfast. Decisions should not be made because crowds overall are down this year. It won't always be like that.

Won't it?

The way things are going , with  the championship structures, and  the inevitable devaluing of the provincial  (well, Ulster) championship, I'd imagine crowds  will go down  even more in the years ahead.

I think this  delay in Casement being built might be a blessing in disguise for  the GAA.  As 5times5times (so good they named him twice) said above , we don't need another white elephant
