Up and about, the sun is out and the championship is upon us and I am buzzing with anticipation.

What's this you say, There is another match on this weekend apart from Donegal Vs Tyrone?

Yes there certainly is and this could potentially be the game of the weekend. Limerick go into the game being completely written off as usual but that wont phases the boy's one bit. I am please with the starting team announced. The middle 3rd will be a battle royal with a lot of big men battling for possession. Limerick have gone with a similar approach to the league final and are starting with Tom lee a Centre Forward. Tom Usually plays at midfield so the hope is he can help out in the fight for Primary possession. Cork though are playing Canty at centre back so expect the middle 3rd to be very congested.

This Limerick team is a battle hardened experienced outfit and with Cork starting 5 newcomers there is a pontential to exploit some of the relative inexperience in the Cork ranks. The loss of Ian Ryan is a massive blow to our chances, He is the one top class forward in our ranks and is just irreplaceable from A limerick perspective. Cork also have a number of very direct runners which has caused Limerick problems in the past.

The heart says we can do it, The head however says otherwise. Cork will likely eek out a 3-4 point win, but maybe, just maybe today could be our day.

The most infuriating bullshit I have ever listened to. The Ulster Championsip analysis was basically all about Tyrone vs Donegal, and as for the Munster championship, Well my views on the lack of respect my county gets is well know but I was utterly astounded by the level of ignorance and downright degrading remarks made in that programme. Im am looking forward to 2 weeks time even more now and I can only imagine what some of the Limerick players would of thought listening to it. I full expect of to have a right crack off Cork, Its such a pity Ian Ryan is injured though

GAA Discussion / Division 4 Final scheduling.
April 09, 2013, 09:38:36 AM
I am very disappointed in the GAA for Scheduling the Division 4 final at the same time as the Munster Clermont Heineken cup Semi Final. It is very disappointing that on one of the rare chances the footballers get TV exposure, the GAA have fixed the match at a time where in reality most of Limerick will be watching the rugby. A televised final in Croke park would been a great chance for the people of Limerick, especially the young people to see what can be achieved if you play football in Limerick. The GAA in its insistance in not accomodating is actually doing more harm than good to football people in Limerick.

Limerick will be boosted by Stephen Luceys return to the panel. Hopefully he will do as good a job on Donaghy as he did in last years Munster Final. Limerick Forwards are motoring well and with the best half forward in the country this year Stephen Kelly in our ranks id be hopefully of a much better showing against the Kingdom. Tomas O Se will have his work cut out against Kelly who regularly given him trouble in the past.  With Ian ryan and Ger Collins inside we will carry a threat. Id like to see Pa Ranahan pick up Declan O Sullivan, Tommy Stack on the Gooch, John O Riordan on Darren O Sullivan and Obviously Lucey on  Donaghy. Stephen Lavin Is a key player for Limerick he could line out a half forward be roams all over the pitch especially around our own half back line

Tom Lee is suspended and will be a huge loss but the return of Jim O Donovan is a massive boost and id expect him to line out at Midfield with Buckley

Scanlon

Stack    Lucey    Johnny Mac

John O Riordan    Ranahan   Gallagher

Buckley Jim O Donovan

Kelly   Mullane    Lavin(roaming)

Collins     O Carroll    Ryan

Yes Pat Spillane despite your assertions a few weeks ago we are not in fact "gone". A good 1st half performance laid the foundations and despite Waterford bring it back level with the help of some dreadful refereeing decisions from Reilly I always thought we had enough in us. Stephen Kelly is playing some great stuff at the moment. Collins and Ryan were quiet last night but conditions didnt really suit them and if you were to take the positives out of it we won with both having quite games. Good spread of scores across the forward line.

We will be written of as usual by the "experts" but that wont faze the lads. The amount of players they have unavailable through one reason or another is massive but they are getting on with things and we will go into the game with confidence. Our forwards are looking sharp and Tommy Stack coming out of retirement is a big help although he is a doubt for next week after being taken off injured last night. Hopefully the powers that be put the match on in Thurles as part of a triple header with the hurling. The miles have been clocked up between the footballers and hurlers route through the qualifiers but both are still involved so happy days!
