General discussion / Good digital pianos
August 15, 2011, 04:31:47 PM
I've a piano at home, but I'm looking to sell it so that I don't annoy as many people when I'm playing as well as freeing up a bit of space around the house.  I'm thinking of buying a digital piano/keyboard so that I can stick the earphones and just listen myself, but I wouldn't know where to begin.  Any ideas on a decent/good keyboard.  It would obvioiusly have to be weighted keys as I'm used to a piano.  I wouldn't be all that great a player, so I wouldn't need a top-of-the-range one but I'd like to get one that plays well with a good reliable sound.

I take it the difference in a digital piano and a weighted keyboard is that there are more options with the keyboard i.e. differnet instruments, background music etc, or can this come with digital pianos also?

General discussion / Bikes

Could anyone recommend me a decent but well-priced bike I could buy?  don't want something too dear, I'm thinking of doing a bit of cycling but don't want to buy something really good if I don't take to it all that well.

General discussion / Funny radio ad
July 30, 2011, 12:19:18 PM
Heard a bit of a radio ad last night on Cool FM- for some alocholic beverage.  This guy tries to get his mates in the mood for a night out and gives a big, funny and half-inspirational speech.  Anyone know which beer I'm talking about it, trying to find it on youtube!

General discussion / Triathlons
July 24, 2011, 01:07:42 PM
Having read an article by Paddy Heaney in the Irish News last Thursday (I think) about an amatuer triathlete, I am thinking about doing a sprint triathlon myself, I have never done, however any road running (I use the treadmill a lot for pre-season training though) or cycling and have only swam in the pool- about 10/15 lengths is my max.

Any suggestions about how to go about this, are they any thriathlon clubs that would be willing to take a novice?  I would rather go there and get a taste for it, rather than go and spend a lot of money on a decent bike and swim gear etc to find out that it's not for me!

What kind of preparation/times/distances need to be covered to become better?

Also, are there any sprint triathlons coming up in our wee country?  From the limited searches I've done on the Internet it suggests that you need to take a 13 week program.

Thanks in advance for any hlep, and I apologise if this topic has come up before on the forum.

General discussion / London Feis

Has anyone been to the London Feis before?  Thinking of going this year but not totally sure yet.  Is there a good atmosphere or quite reserved and gentle clapping?  Christy Moore is playing and would love to see him in an open air concert.
