ah well, when you lose 2 all ireland winners to aussie rules , the greatest midfielder in history to retirement and the best current player in the game to a media witch hunt you're always going to be up against it. The fact that Kerry will surely now give serious consideration to going the back door again next year just about sums up the way game is currently run.  The bitters will take delight in the kingdom's demise, the true followers of the game will acknowledge the end of a great side that had circumstances been different, would have been fairly allowed to continue their dominance.

perfectly good goal

Nobody would care about Galvin or any other Kerry player's behavior if they weren't so successful. The hatred of Kerry has to be expected as any top side that dominates any sport is on the receiving end and while at first I was confused by what I saw as mindless attacks I have now learned to simply put it down to anger, frustration and just plain jealousy and take no notice of it anymore.

whats this about the gooch diving?
there were fellas sliding and falling all over the place in those conditions without even being touched yet gooch who was pulled can't go down without it being considered a dive  ::)
anyone who knows the man knows he doesn't dive and would have much preferred the chance to put the ball in the back of the net.

puskas, if meath make this years final and Cork win it, it will surely be a soft all ireland for Cork since they won't have done so by beating Kerry, the side they've been unable to beat in croker this decade, right?

Quotea back to back against the weaker opposition provided by Mayo and Cork in those years is clutching at straws IMHO, sorry.

Oh dear...
Cork weak opposition? They'd have won a bunch of all Ireland's this decade if it wasn't for Kerry and only Kerry, meaning the only team to defeat them in years has been Kerry. Oh yeah, they're in this years final if you hadn't noticed.  Your weak opposition to the now fact that Kerry is the team of the decade is what's clutching at straws, sorry.

Look at all the hate coming our way after winning 2 in a row.
Can't imagine what it's going to be like if we manage 3  ::)

GAA Discussion / Re: The second best football team?

2nd has to be Dublin, they really should have an all-ireland to their name for their efforts in recent years. I thought they could have done with a change and let pillar go.

3rd I'd say is Monaghan, had they been more experienced they might have beaten us, heck they almost did anyway. Could be a serious threat next year.

Lads this chat of a "soft" All Ireland is a bit wide of the mark.

You'll find the "soft" talk comes from those who's side wasn't good enough to get in a position to challenge Kerry. The fact is there's no such thing as a soft all-ireland and those that claim there is, don't win many.

Quote from: whiskeysteve on September 17, 2007, 12:01:28 PMA few weeks ago, I wrote that 'The Gooch' was like Tiger Woods stuck on two 'majors', and I firmly believe that he gets far too much praise, far too quickly from most quarters.

Seriously, this "cynical" talk is getting tired and predictable, we fouled our way to 4 all-irelands in a row I suppose  :-\
Look we're no angels but we're no worse than the rest.
It's a physical game.

Quote from: Naomh Éanna on September 16, 2007, 08:44:06 PMNever worry about the score j70. they were stuffed and they know it  :-*

A 3 point loss is not a hammering whatever way you slice it.
Meath beating us 2-14 to 0-5 in 2001, now that was a hammering...

Quote from: southdown on September 16, 2007, 07:59:56 PMIf Cork are the 2nd best team in Ireland

They're not.
Dublin are the 2nd best side in the country and there's a bit of daylight between them and the rest.
