Former SDLP leader John Hume and his wife Pat have been injured in a car collision in County Donegal.

The Nobel Prize laureate was in one of two cars involved in the smash at Carrowprassna near Greencastle at 1730 GMT, a SDLP spokesman said.

The couple was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry where they were treated for minor injuries.

Mr Hume won the international peace prize in 1998 for his role in the Northern Ireland peace process.

Glad to hear they weren't seriously hurt.
