Title: Railway Cup final
Post by: CompulsoryTillager on October 28, 2007, 07:10:53 PM
Bit of a joke the two goalkeepers wearing outfield jerseys wasn't it? You'd think the provinces would have realised in advance that their GK jerseys clashed with the opposition

How did it finish? I was going out and only saw the first 10 minutes. How did the ref do. He's a Down man.

Munster won by three points and the Ref was awful. ;)

The ref was one of the worst I've ever seen!

From what ive heard he loves refereeing and would do so 7 nites a week, asking for more high profile games if possible. Not gospel, just what i was told in casement today.

He couldn't be the worst ref ever ! There'd be some competition for that prize !

I didn't see the game but I read in the paper that the ref disallowed a perfectly good goal that would have affected the final result. What happened?

Lads been in London all weekend so obviously didnt see Deccy Magee in action, but in my humble opinion he is the worst ref i have had the misfortune of seeing. The thing i cant understand is that he is turning into the "top man" in Ulster, i know people come on gurning about standard of refs in reserve, junior matches but Deccy is officiating at high profile games and getting away with murder.

Guillem Keith Higgins was running through right in front of goal ball in hand. Had just let the ball go from hand to strike it and the defender flicked the ball away, to the net.

To be fair to anyone making the decision the flick was that quick that it looked entirely like he threw it into the net but slow motion replays illustrated that it was the defenders stick that put it in.

And yes that referee was brutal!!

I think the umpires have to shoulder the blame for that one in fairness. One of them was still convinced it was handpassed on sunday in Casement when asked about it. Easy mistake to make all the same.

I take it you were talking to a former county colleague of yours?  The most stubborn lad in the world

We were saying to him on Sunday morning that the last time he was that close to Dan Shanahan he got 5 goals buried past him!

I am making no comment on the ref in question............

Strangely enough I was never there when the umpiring former county goalkeeper was doing his best to turn the tide in both Waterford and Cork, thank god. Was that under Frank Dawson's reign?

Twas indeed.  Glory days for the fatman and the county.  ::)

The training regime would need to have been nice and relaxed for our fella.   ;D
