A major boost for our Capital City and if things go well a Champions League Final could well follow
It has to be built first. They'll probably come looking for Croker again.
Isn't the new Landsdowne going to be 50,000 or so? That would be fine for UEFA Cup final going by past venues but not enought for the CL final I would have thought.
Croker will never get anything like that (even if Central Council approved its use) unless it made the Hill permanently seated, which I and most gaels would be very much against I'm sure. Would be great to see a major final come to Ireland though.

Does Hamden Park in Scotland not only hold just over 50k ?I could be wrong on the capacity but that hosted a Champions League Final
I think there is a minimum capacity of 70k as part of the new criteria for CL finals. I could be wrong about the figure, but I know it's more than 50k.

Your right about Hampden - 52,000 although I also heard that the required capacity has increased, it hosted the Madrid v Leverkusen final which was about 5/6 years ago. Hampden is a truly awful stadium don't know how it managed to get a CL final.
Think you're right, on reflection. Hampden hosted the 2002 Final between Real Madrid and Dortmund (I think) but the criteria has been changed.
Was at this year's UEFA Final between Seville and Espanyol at Hampden and I have to say the jocks handled it very well. Separate fan zones in the city centre for rival fans, good street entertainment, and free transport to and from Hampden etc. Only downside was that it was a piss poor day weather wise, but a UEFA Cup Final would do wonders for Dublin economically as well as from a football perspective

"Permanent" seating is fitted and then removed again for the Ireland soccer games as things stand. Although they are there temporarily they shouldn't be confused with temporary seating. Simple! :D

I remember getting up at 4 or 5am to watch that final as i was in Melbourne at the time,From what i can remember it was a bad game but Zidane scored probably the best goal ever to be scored in a Champions League Final(Apart from any of Liverpools 3goals v Ac Milan in '05 ;) )
