Title: Laois county chairman
Post by: Hurling123 on June 12, 2025, 03:38:27 PM
Word is we will have  a new county chairman soon enough.
Mattie collier is canvasing hard for postion.mattie seems to be the preference of the current county board ,haven't heard of anyone else going for the role just yet. Will shaggy leavy put his name in again?

My thoughts are that we need new blood a very different  chairman that brings the county hurling and football together. A leader by all account.

Any thoughts

Give Cheddar the job if he'd take it.

And not before long. A man solely there to be in photos and act as a politician. Plenty saw through his facade, a shambles of a tenure. Poor Mattie isn't the answer, nice man but if his idea of development is being delighted we beat limerick in an u15 game last year then we are in bigger trouble than we realise

If Mattie Collier becomes chairman you can put a double lock on the gates and leave them closed.

Cheddar a very intelligent man might fit for a chairman position if available.

I presume the original post & "soon enough" means at the next convention?!

I can't imagine Mattie up in the hills plotting a heave!

Mattie won't be given it, it will go to a football man, AS A hurling man, more needs to be done but an area like Graiguecullen or Portarlington,  Abbeyleix or Rathdowney/Errill deserve ita chance at putting someone forward, as five clubs are almost annually chosen

Last few chairman were perceived to be football men, no? PJ Kelly and Peter O'Neill certainly dual clubs but strong lean towards football. Gerry Kavanagh from a football only club.

Would be good to see a chairperson from a strong hurling background. Don't know Collier well enough to know if he's the man.

I know that neither of them would probably do it, but it I had any say, although nobody would listen, is either Niall Rigney or Paul Cuddy. Or at least give those two exceptional former hurlers positions working with the underage programmes
