Folks,
Whilst the hurling community has a wiki page listing all the past winners of Feile, I can't find a similar page for the Division 1 national football winners. Can anyone help to combine this list since 1982 , when Erin's Isle from Dublin won it? I'm missing 83,85-90, 94, 96-97,01-02, 06, 20-21, 23-24.
Thanks
Here's where I'm at and I stand corrected !! :

Claregalway were the 2013 Feile champions
I think ballinderry won in 1996 and 1997?
Claregalway won it in 2022.
Michael Breathnach (based in Inverin in Galway) shared the trophy with New York in 2024 -
Shared because it finished level after extra time.

That's super lads. So a couple of follow ups since I posted this, it's for Division 1 ......
1. St Finbars 3 in a row 88-90 - any evidence ? I has Crossmaglen 88, Newbridge Sars 89
2. Bishopstown 87?
3. Crossmaglen 2002
4. 2023?
5. 2024?
There is definitely a book to be written on this and the co-relation between Feile success and All Ireland senior club championships in later years.
Thanks for the help .
Lads I don't know where the roll of honour was sourced from but there's no way a Divisional side (South Kerry) was playing in Féile so that's a mistake for 2000 I'm fairly certain.

I remember drawing with Ballinderry at minor level in 1999 and thinking that was the best result ever!

Shane O'Neills from Armagh won it in 1987? Wow.
Great work lads - just 2023 left?

It was definitely Claregalway is 2013, they beat Bellaghy in the final, beat Ballyboden in semi who narrowly beat Dromore
Let us know when you've the wiki page up - that text on the programme is too small for my the failing eyesight!!

Finbarrs definitely did 3 in a row. We lost the semi final that year. One of my hardest football memories!
Quote from: Smokin Joe on June 07, 2025, 12:35:39 PMShane O'Neills from Armagh won it in 1987? Wow.
Shane's had an outstanding team at underage in those days, albeit a mixture of the best in Newry and surrounding areas! They had some physical monsters, Gerry Hartigan, Fergus Gaughran, Tommy Mooney off the top of my head. Jab Feehan was an outstanding forward. They were loaded at the time. All gone by minor though to various clubs and soccer (and drink!)

I'd say you got over it handily enough in due course ;D

We did alright!
It was actually 1989 that our team was there. I found a thread on X with some of the teams. Have a read through this

Ha, that's class. Brother of Ciaran Murphy from Second Captains.
Ballinderry doing well to have played in 4 finals.
In 2023, Westport beat Athenry after extratime. Athenry beat Kilmacud en route to the final and were going for a historic double after winning the Feile huring the previous week!
So did Westport win 2023? First Mayo team ever to win Div 1?
I wonder how many have a Feile winners medal and an All Ireland Senior?

Go easy, them Westport lads only playing minor in 2025. ;D

That Athenry - Westport game was the semi final.
Athenry drew with Kilmacud in the group stages and finished second behind them in the group on scoring difference.
Kilmacud best Westport in the final.

Don't know about intercounty but there was about a fair few lads on Corofin's 3 in a row team from that 2004 Feile winning team-off the top of my head-Ronan Steede, Cathal Silke, Daithi Burke, Michael Farragher, I'm sure there's more.

A good few of the 2006 Kilcoo Feile winning team went on to win the All Ireland Senior Club title in 2022.
Has the Feile lost its appeal? Last time it was in Derry there was a bugger buzz, parade for the teams, more teams and a full weekend of action from what I remember? Barely a mention of it in Derry for this weekend

just the Derry effect. Shockingly poor PR from them for years now, nothing gets promoted
Great thread @panc56 - a Wikipedia entry for Féile Peile na nÓg (complete with an uptodate roll of honour) is a much needed resource to rival https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%A9ile_na_nGael
Some quick replies to this discussion to date:
- Claregalway GAA won D1 of the competition in 2022.
- in terms of future county stars emerging from successful winning Féile teams, Galway's Niall Finnegan captained Salthill to victory in Cork in 1985 and later won an all-Ireland senior football medal with the Tribesmen in 1998. He was also on the Galway team beaten by Kerry in 2000 after a replay.
Interestingly, Salthill beat Nemo Rangers in the 1985 final and future Cork star Colin Corkery also featured. As we approach the 40th anniversary of that final, a piece of useless trivia - Féile weekend in 1985 coincided with the Live Aid concerts in London and Philadelphia 😉
