First 2 albums are brilliant imo
Shout - Lulu (the start gives me the jitters)
Beautiful Day.
Especially at a wedding. We know it's a beautiful day, it's your special day and you're both looking great. But there's a limit to everything.
I'm gonna throw in Lifted by The Lighthouse Family. Awful stuff.

Around the World by Daft Punk.
Some years ago I was on a 8 hour bus journey from Holyhead to London and the bus driver kept playing that song.

Fatboy Slim praise you. Never liked it.
I'd vote for a lot of the ones mentioned.
I despise Happy.
Probably an unpopular notion, but I loathe anything Christy Moore.
And the worst of the worst, ever, and probably never to be out-worsted, Des'ree's Life.

Great song when actually lifted by the RUC.
I fucked hated that song around the 2012 Olympics. Can't remember the name but it was popular at the time.
Blurred Lines - Thicke feat. T.I. & Pharrell Williams
Congratulations - Cliff Richard
Fiesta - The Pogues
The REM thread just reminded me how much I hate Shiny Happy People.

I'd never heard "Happy" until I saw the minions/Gru movie that it features in. Works really well there, and I actually thought it was just a song for the movie (and not a "real" song).

500 miles by the Proclaimers
Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas
Don't know if they qualify as popular but always turn these off if they come on radio.
Sinead o'Connor- Nothing compares to you
U2 - Sweetest Thing
M People - Moving on Up
Simply Red - Moneys to tight to mention
Dexys midnight runners - Come on Eileen
J.Geils Band - Centrefold
Call on Me - Eric Prydz
Cotton eyed Joe
Green green grass and especially shotgun by George Ezra. The wanes love it, but the lyrics are shite. Just a good singer rhyming nonsense to a catchy tune
Most Ed Sheeran stuff.
Anything by The Petshop Boys.
Dance money
Red red wine
And just to blow the whole thing up......
Bohemian Rhapsody
The Rose by Bette Midler. Another romance standard
Anything where the singer feels like she has to hit every single humanly producible note in one word.
Good call on Brown eyed girl. There was a movie around 1990 with Julia Roberts. Nothing against Julia Roberts but never liked it since.
All around the world - Lisa Stansfield
Dreams - Gabrielle
Killing me softly - Roberta Flack/The Fugees
There are many, many more.

Joe Cooley said that only Irish traditional music could bring Irish people to their senses.
Maniac 2000 has some sort of effect on the people as well but I don't know what it is exactly.

Haven't changed my mind.
But Take me to Church is one I've absolutely grown to hate.
Whitney Houston I will always love you.
Seems to be a go to "BIG" song for a lot of singers in got talent shows and everyone drivels over it when they "nail it". Can't stand the song. Sure, the vocals of Houston are great if you are a voice coach or some bull, but it's over done soppy shite for me. Switch the radio or TV anytime it comes on.

That song isn't popular! Used regularly - because it's part of a recently invented tradition - but not popular.
I'll widen it out further. All jazz is cat.
You wouldn't say that to Dizzy Gillespie's face.

Complete plastic here but ended up in the Empire years back, had a fair few in me, but whatever the fud they were playing that nite (jazz) and whoever it was, it was pure class
Grace in the right place at the right time is absolute magic. The Big Band folk group type versions with thousands singing I will die die die back at them is pure and utter p*sh.

Lots of the most hated songs are stock wedding band numbers, or songs that drunk girls all sing along to.
That's one way to make a bad song even worse.
Never liked these two:
Streets of New York
Joe McDonnell is an awful dreary song

Same, the Empire was a good spot. Has only been in recent years that I started attending jazz gigs properly and I've kinda overdone it, been truly spoilt, but the novelty is very hard to find now and I can't appreciate it like I did before. I need a good factory reset with a few heavy rock gigs.
Galway Girl (and if someone covers it or attempts to sing it in a pub its absolute punishment altogether).
And no offense to the good people of Galway on the week leading up to the All-Ireland, as "There's One Fair County In Ireland" is every bit as bad, if not worse.
