Has this General Board gotten all boring since some of the Characters no longer post?

The ignore function is great, but the downside is that if all the eejits that you have ignored join in on a particular thread, then you can't follow it but, then again, few of them say much that's intelligent anyway.

Yes. It used to go through peaks and troughs but it's now terminal.
It's far from a discussion board it's a my opinion is right board, and if you dare disagree I'll run to the mods crying like a baby, in fairness the mods with are like VAR totally inept and led to many a good contributor leaving or getting banned.

One poster probably put himself in a difficult position as he used his name and had ridiculous views on controversial topics which could have come back to bite him personally as people could read it , be offended and know who he is.
One other poster just annoyed everyone and eventually left.
It is just reflective of an internet land with some decent folk, some genuine eejits and some wind up merchants. There are very easily offended people but that is the world we live in...
In general it's ok.
Twitter, FB, etc. killed much of the interest in forums like this about a decade ago. All of a sudden people had an easier, less obscure way to chat shite on the internet.
A certain appetite for forums still exists though, especially among those with a diehard interest in particular subjects. But you have to make an effort with the place to attract new contributors, who in turn create the content we're all here to read.
This forum makes very, very little effort to attract new posters. Things like cleaning up thread titles (especially those relating to specific matches or competitions), merging or deleting duplicate threads, and encouraging discussion on certain topics by opening new threads would all make the forum more attractive. In short, more active moderation would go a ways to helping things.
Mods are hero posters, hence conflict of interests and they support their wee click who are the self indulgent tw@ts.
The place has become too PC .. the county threads are good for local game info. Though some people are way too sensitive.
We need to chill out stop the posturing, trolling, faux-offence, ridicule and remember this is an anonymous forum.

Anybody here post on the old Debate Central board? Used to be some great slagging in there because it was uncensored. Some boys would get endless hours of fun "hun-baiting" and winding up the prods, and to be fair to the prods they gave as good as they got, which was kinda admirable on a fenian-dominated board.
The happy days of all sorts of counties breaking new ground in the '00's was when this Board started up. There weren't many counties in that decade or the decade before who did not have a year that they could remember. If you could not enjoy your own county doing well you could piggy back on the back of a non traditional county doing well.
But that seems to have gone. We are back to 2 or 1 team dominated provinces. A back door that prolongs the agony for the the lesser lights.
That romance seems to have died.
And then there is Dublin.

The GAA section is awesome for keeping up to date with matches, especially club matches, this section is for the self indulgent who actually think their opinion matters, maybe you fall into said category. ;)
For club info the Armagh fans tend to go to orchardfansforum and so too probably for a lot of the county talk.
In general I just think the board is a lot quieter with not as many people logging on. Hard to get a debate going when there aren't enough people around to voice opinions.
When folk were voicing opinions everyone was falling over themselves to be offended and running to Mods, ironically the mods were voicing some of the said opinions, no wonder folk stopped posting.
