Title: Transfer Query
Post by: mup on October 02, 2018, 09:40:46 AM
Looking for a bit of info regarding a transfer.

Looking to transfer a young lad (u15 this year) from one club to another. Provided his current club do not object is he still obliged to be sit on the sideline for 48 weeks from the date of his last game?

Providing his name is submitted on the player lists at the start of the year by his new club there should be no issues. The registration will flag up that he is previously registered with his previous club so they will be contacted. IF they do not object he should be free to play. The beurocracy is notoriously so it may well be worth having your secretary flag it up to County Secretary and to put it in writing that if you do not hear otherwise by DD-MMM you will consider he is available to play. This puts the ball back in their court to get an answer or to fi=ormally say No.

Thanks for your reply.

I probably should have added that he has played this year for his current club which might make things a bit awkward. It will be slightly complicated with the fact that he will be continuing to play one code with his current club while playing the other with his new club.

Hope I explained that clearly.

He wouldn't need a transfer if his current club is football only.
He would need a sanction/ permission to play hurling for the other club.

His current club play both codes. However they couldn't care less about one of them. There is no guarantee there will be a team for him there next year as most of the most don't bother with the code he prefers. He is not willing to take that chance.

For the record the other club play both codes too.
