Did an unbelievable job. Cheers Anto some unreal memories.
Did a great job with the Dubs and pastures new await. Galway probably the next stop.

Good luck to him if he does take on Galway. Galway tends to be your last inter-county job. Can't think of any of our managers in the last 25 years who've gone on to manage another county team. Even outside managers like Loughnane and McIntyre. And they had better players to work with than we do now. Still hope he takes it though, cos he's a good manager.
Who'll get the 'lucrative' Dublin job? Will Nicky English or Liam Sheedy consider it? I know Nicky is Dublin based, but isn't Sheedy also?

Mike Mac.
Winning the league and Leinster after 50+ year breaks was very impressive. Maybe a bit unlucky with timing of the Kilkenny fade out. Hopefully it starts soon. He leaves the dubs in a decent state.
Daly definitely brought Dublin onto the next level. He looked to be a great motivator. On days his teams were focused and fired up they were a match for anyone.
However there were a few setbacks and dud performances along the way, where Dublin were tactically and technically awful. The challenge for the next man is to get them more consistent.
There were rumours a few weeks ago that Pat McDonagh was willing to *ahem* bankroll him if he left the Dublin job to take over in Galway. Whether it happens or not who knows?
Hard to know how attractive the Galway job is. In fairness they were unlucky this year to come up against the two All-Ireland finalists so early. Kilkenny first followed by Tipp in Thurles straight after. An unforgiving set of fixtures.
I think there is probably enough in Galway that Daly would have something to work with anyway.

He could introduce varying tactics and how to close out the last 5 minutes. The next few years probably won't have a dominant team either. So he could be tempted.

This is the same Daly that couldn't get Dublin to close out a comfortable lead against Antrim a few years back.
Galway secretary Pat Kearney has ruled out the prospect of Anthony Daly being parachuted in as senior hurling manager.
The former Clare All-Ireland winning captain, who stood down as Dublin boss earlier in the week, has been linked with the role along with the outgoing Anthony Cunningham, Brendan Lynskey, Johnny Kelly and Mattie Kenny.
But, speaking to the Irish Daily Star, Kearney insisted: "It will be a Galwayman.
"It's unlikely it will be anyone from outside the county.
"We will do interviews in the next 10 days."
Cyril Farrell wrote a good article on Saturday about the shoddy treatment of Cunningham by the county board and the general mess they're making of hurling in the county. I'm surprised Cunningham still wants the job and he must see something in his players that most of us don't.
I understand there have been no senior club championship games played all summer in Galway even though we were one of the first teams out. Kilkenny play club games through the summer and it hasn't done them any harm. And still no sign of us moving into Leinster at underage even though most Galway fans think it's the way to go.
He could do the Antrim job, while Ryan has done well enough he's had 3 years now and we are still at that level behind the top 10

Same manager who won a Leinster championship for a county that hadn't won it for 50 years. Also won a league title that hadn't been won for a half a century.
TO date that's more then your current manager has won.

What would you have Ryan do that he's not already doing?
According to the Indo Cunningham got a further 3 years with Galway.

I wouldn't quarrel with it. Bar some tactical mistakes, I think he's done about as well as he could have with the players available. At least the players are giving it their all which couldn't always be said in the past. I'm not optimistic about us being in contention any time soon but even if Cody was taking over, I still wouldn't be expecting anything.

Some good young lads have been introduced. You never know. I think this year's reinstitution of the ancien regime of KK puts a different slant on Galway's year. Very unlucky to get tipp one week after 2 successive games against the cats.
A few lads who can horse over the points from out the field would be great. Goalscoring is not a problem.
Well Glynn is a serious weapon around the square and should cause mayhem for years to come. Joe will win us games if we can get the ball to him but he won't win a huge amount of ball himself. Conor Cooney had a good year and is a near perfect free taker. I think the jury's still out on the likes of Flynn and Mannion. And God knows what's gone wrong with David and Niall Burke the last 2 years. We need to find some pace at both ends, and we really missed the old Damien Hayes and Cyril Donnellan.
Hopefully Brehony will continue to blossom into a top midfielder, but I'd be worried about where the replacements are for the likes of Moore, Collins, Smyth and Tannian. I don't think Ronan Burke is the answer at full-back either. But you're right seafoid, we did take Kilkenny to a replay and matched Tipp for 50/60 minutes. We're not a million miles off, but I don't think there are any players coming through to get too excited about.

If the rest of the lads around Joe are alright, Joe will be perfectly fine, nothing wrong with his catching ability in Athenry yesterday pm. Don't think we're going to get much more out of Hayes, and God only knows what the 2 Burkes are going to do from now on; Niall in particular should be driving his club on at Intermediate level. It's a good sign that Flynn is probably his club's best and most consistent player, leadership begins at club level. I've great faith in young Mannion and would groom him for midfield in the years ahead, he's tall, strong, mobile, a good hurler and stands out for Ahascragh - pity his brother Padraig couldn't put his injuries behind him and make the panel also. Hope Conor Cooney can continue his good form but he's not the quickest and hasn't the most nimble of touch either. Ditto Glynn and Donnellan; at the highest level you have to be able to hurl, the lack of natural ability cost Bonnar big time Saturday evening. Reinforcements needed in all areas, maybe John Hanbury is worth a look at FB.
Then again, everything you know is wrong.

I agree with that mouview and too often he's left to do most of it on his own. If we can build a decent forward line around him, Joe will win us All-Irelands, but unfortunately the personnel isn't there.

It must be a head thing, Asal . Some days the points just fly over.
Sure we could get a big dose of luck next year.
It's just a question of locating the gaillimh spot.

"The usual question probably needs to be asked re Galway. Which Galway team will be in Kilkenny ? The one that demolished Dublin or the one that went down easily against Waterford. Galway find it difficult to play consistently well in successive games and have done for quite a number of years now. The lack of championship games excuse was addressed with their admission to play in the Leinster senior championship. They are consistently competitive at minor and under 21. Their club teams have a very impressive success rate in the All-Ireland competition with four different teams winning six titles since 2000. So what is the problem ? There doesn't seem to be a logical, obvious reason as to why it's taken Galway so long to achieve All-Ireland senior success.
Galway's demoralisation is worse in that they don't even have sporadic All-Irelands to sustain them, just sporadic appearances in finals that have been followed with the unerring haplessness. The key to delivering something has to be creating a context for Joe Canning to perform, something that nearly took the Liam MacCarthy across the Shannon two years ago."
I'm always hopeful and trying to be optimistic seafoid. The next few All-Irelands will be very competitive with Clare, Limerick and Wexford all building serious teams but anything is possible. Roll on 2015 anyway. May the winter fly by.
Still no manager in place for the dubs?

No,
the ex keeper.
Donal Og and other keepers have always spoken very highly of him as a goalkeeper coach anyway. Seems like a shrewd operator. Looks a good move by Dublin.
Confirmed tonight according to RTE news.
Don't be surprised to see donal Og having sone sort of involvement with the Dublin set up!!
