Blazing Saddles
The Wizard of Oz
The Big Lebowksi
I bought the box set of The Matrix movies about 3 years ago and haven't got round to watching any of them yet.

You only needed to buy the first one.
I haven't seen The Titanic or Scarface.

Ach they're all great imo, just the first one is one of the best films of all time so naturally outshines the other two a bit...
The sequels reminded me of the scenes in Family Guy that go on and on repetitively beyond the point of being funny, plus some pretentious philosophy thrown in as uninterestingly as possible by some dude sitting in a chair talking for ten minutes.
Scarface (saw bits n pieces but never the whole thing)
Godfather (All of them)
Raging Bull (bought it on dvd ages ago but never watched it)
Casino (again saw bits n pieces)
Haven't watched Raging Bull or all of the Godfather.
The Fog of war
The various Godfathers
Kubrick's stuff
Tarkovsky's fillims
The Deer Hunter
Taxi driver

The last two are a must, maybe they lose abit with age, but not much. Godfather movies at the time were special

Blazing Saddles
The Wizard of Oz
The Big Lebowksi
Two of the greatest comedies ever there!
Blazing Saddles? Holy shit. I've seen that upwards of 50 times at this stage I'd say. I used to know every single word off by heart, and I could probably still have a good go at it.
I have it on VHS, NTSC VHS, DVD and now Sky Plus (it was on there a week or so ago). Brilliant.
My name is Jim. But my friends call me.....Jim.

Or Hitler in his NY accent: "they lose me right after the bunker scene!"
Harvey Korman stole the show though, along with Slim Pickens.
The Big Lebowski is hilarious and really clever too. I'd love to have never seen it so I could watch it again for the first time.
The Godfathers, Deer Hunter, Taxi Driver: I could take them or leave them, maybe they're just not my kind of movies.
Kubrick's stuff: A lot of it was just weird though visually impressive, but A Clockwork Orange is imo a masterpiece, and probably the greatest film ever made.
Top Gun
ET
All the Harry Potters.
Most of the Star Wars
Star Wars
The Invisible Man
Spice Girls The Movie
Debbie Does Dallas.
The Perfect Storm - great book but couldn't see how they could make a movie out of it
Citizen Kane
Most recent stuff was well.

2 from 14. Have no real desire to see the other 12. Films these days just aren't what they used to be. I'd say there'd be maybe a couple of films every 4/5 years that I'd really want to see.

Nah, the second one is shite and the third is truly appalling. Second isn't as bad as I originally thought though but third is infinitely worse. The scene with the Architect - ergo, concordantly, vis-a9vis etc. Utter nonsense.
Not doing too bad there... must try some of the older films over the next while like Unforgiven, Amadeus it'll give me something to do.

Ordinary People

Driving Miss Daisy

I have seen bits from most of these as well. About 25 of them I've watched from start to finish. There are a number of them that will never want to watch.
Hard to believe some of them films won despite being up against (in my opinion) much better films:
Chicago beat The Pianist and The Two Towers
Shakespeare in Love beat Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line
Titanic beat LA Confidential
The English Patient beat Fargo
Driving Miss Daisy beat Born On The Fourth of July
Rocky beat Taxi Driver

Truth be told wouldn't recommend any of them.
Watchable are Gladiator and Departed.
Most of the rest are downright awful imvho.
Looking at the list of Oscar winners since 1972 there are some awful films listed. (S. in Love, English Patient, Annie Hall and Out of Africa in particular all robbed me of valuable time I will never retrieve).
The Italian Job (1969)
Dirty Harry
The Exorcist
Godfather Trilogy
A Clockwork Orange
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Apocalypse Now
Blade Runner
Full Metal Jacket
The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers
The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King
The Matrix Revolutions
300
X-Men 2
X-Men 3
Argo
have all above titles on dvd - just can't get time to watch them!
Cuckoo's nest was a pile of shite. So overrated. Same with Blade Runner.
As for De Niro films, I avoid them like the plague. Pulling the same faces in every movie don't make you an actor.

Watched Sleepers again the other night (I think ITV3 have shown it at least once a week for the last month)... great film!!

I'd concur with that but Midnight Run is comic genius.
