Hey Guys,
Check out a newly released Gaelic Football Coaching App, for the iPhone.

Has anybody checked it our yet, what are the thoughts?
Downloaded the lite version with 3 drills on it and it looks reasonable enough - £14.99 for the full thing is a bit steep though.
Downloaded the lite version too, and it looks the part.
But too pricey at €16.99.
I'm too miserable to pay that kind of money for an app.
Lads, at £14.99/€16.99, that is roughly 29p/33c per drill :o
Is it really that pricey?
€16.99 is a dear app in my opinion. High quality games from EA sports etc are usually no more than €7.99, and normally less than that.
I presume us Android people are being ignored as per usual?
That's the most expensive app i've seen bar GPS apps. Too expensive! If they halved the cost they would sell 3 times the amount IMO
I thought it was good value. Loads of info and compared to some of the so called coaching DVDs out there this is value for money.
Android version will be out before xmas it says on website

Not when you put it like that, but it's the overall cost of the App that most people (well, me at least) judges it by.
Dearest App I've bought was €6. Most were less than a euro.
Obviously GAA apps won't enjoy the same economies of scale as others because they're niche products.
I like what I've seen of the Lite version, but at €16.99 it's too dear for an app. I can appreciate a fair bit of investment went into developing it, and pricing it to maximise income is tricky.
Can it be licensed to more than one user? Eg, a club buy a licence for 5 or 10 users?
JHume,
Cheers for the feedback, no to your question regarding licensing to 5/10 users.
Also, just to let you know we also do coaching cards (as in playing card format, for coaches who don't have a smartphone)
They are available to buy off the website. Btw if you were considering a bulk order please contact us through website.

Android version of our Gaelic Football Coaching App is now available!
Although i was a bit wary about the price, I bought this app and I have to say it is pretty good. Maybe still a bit steep at £14.99 but a good resource for those who dont have a huge amount of time to prep their sessions.

Who is this app aimed at? Is it for inexperienced coaches who need a bit of help and few handy ideas or would all coaches get a lot out of it? I would certainly be willing to pay for coaching information but I've accumulated quite a bit of stuff at this stage and I'm often disappointed by these types of things now, which seem to offer fairly basic and widely used information. You'll always pick up one or two ideas/drills/games from these things but not enough to justify the cost, Totalgaacoach DVD being a prime example.

Your pricing structure is wrong. People won't pay that sort of money for an app like this. The fact you can also produce it as cards means that you're not making use of the advantages that a smartphone has.
If I were you, I'd set up a basic version for $1.99 and then allow users to download subsequent drills at fifty cents a throw - something like that. You might make some money that way. I don't think you will on your current pricing structure. Best of luck with it.
Guys thanks for the constructive comments.
Zulu, primarily it is aimed at the coach who might not have a wealth of coaching experience and knowledge of drills. If you have a iPhone or Android smartphone you can download a free 'lite' version (which has 4 drills) and it will give you a feel of what we provide.
I believe you would definitely get a benefit in providing you with some new fresh ideas on drills/mini-games. Also the convenience of being able to bring your phone onto a pitch where you can view the drill in order to help you set out drills quickly etc. This is something you cannot do with a Book/DVD!
IolarCoisCuain, thanks for the best wishes. Have you tried the free 'lite' version? In relation to your points made I would say that your suggestion is something we would like to implement in the future. You say offer subsequent drills at 50c, well as you noted our current drills are priced at 33c per drill for the App so I believe we are offering a great product at a good price. As was noted in a previous comment on the thread the GAA coaching market is very limited in the global scale and we have to price accordingly.
I would like to point out this is the first of many in our coaching products, whereby we will offer integration of new and old and will prove to be very cost effective over their product lives.
Madaboutgaa, yeah I have the lite version and while it looks good I'm not sure it would have enough for me(not that I know it all or anything!!) but I guess if I'm paying more than a tenner I'd like to see mostly stuff I haven't seen. In saying that I'll probably get it anyway.
On the point of potential market, I think this is seriously underestimated by most. There are clubs the world over and most are coached by lads with limited experience. On top of that I find GAA coaches to be very keen on information. The problem is often the quality of information and the quality of production. Have you thought about contacting club directly?
Any GAA apps for Blackberry?
Unfortunately no Blackberry App version. Don't see the demand for it. You will have to make do with just a pack of coaching cards in the playing card format!
