Title: Working and travelling in Canada
Post by: tintin25 on January 10, 2011, 10:57:39 AM

Lads,

Unsure as to whether there has been a thread already, but looking some information on this.

Thinking of getting a visa and heading out for a year to work/travel.  Anyone been and done it? Recommend it?

No ties or anything to keep me here for the foreseeable future, so think it would be a good move.  Have an uncle out in Toronto, so could probably stay wth him whilst I get myself sorted.

Would it be advisable to try and get job before visa, or vice versa?

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Thanks!

Would it be recommended to get the visa and then look for a job, or vice versa?

Well lads, is anyone applying for a Canadian visa in the new year? They're for two years this time which is handy. I'm just getting my police check sorted now so I can apply as soon as they open in January, but I haven't yet decided to go through USIT or go it alone.
If anyone on here has been through the process before could offer any recommendations that would be great. If it only cost an extra 200 quid or so to avail of Usit's services I'd pay it for the peace of mind, but I don't like the sound of this http://www.politics.ie/forum/current-affairs/97856-why-usit-charging-so-much-canadian-work-visas-2.html
