This is interesting.

I can't remember for sure, but I think Peter Quinn said in the Irish News that the roof would be 30-40ft higher than the top of the goalposts.
If it's only going to be 30-40ft how are the rugby boys gonna kick garryowens when they come to visit???
sounds a bit over the top, can see the merits of it, but how could you hold a game under a closed roof if the roof offers that sort of a limitation. anyway can't see them getting much funding at the moment.
QuoteThe use of wind and rain machines, as well as multiple cameras, will mean that they will be able to mimic conditions at any ground in the country.
Why would you want to mimic rain and wind? If they are going to do that then why don't they just build a stadium without a roof
Killyman have electric wires running accross the field. The ball often hit the wires and play has to be brought back for the ball to be thrown in again -
The "height" of nonsense ! ;)
Its an interesting idea but I don't see why an Irish University would need a 10,000 seater grass based indoor stadium. I could see the GAA wanting one or the IRFU and of course the FAI wouldn't say no.
I presume that they would hope that all these bodies will be knocking on the door looking to use it on a regular basis.
It would hardly be full for a Sigerson match would it ??? ???
sounds like too many mad scientists getting together!
Wind and rain machines, for f**k sake just train in the f**king winter. Is it April 1st already?
Anyway if they raised the roof a bit it could be a good venue for National League games. Im sure Dublin county teams will make full use of it anyway.

10000 would be too big for a Dublin NFL game :D
Joking aside though, You'd probably get a good crowd in as they dont have to sit outside and you might even get more away support. 10,000 might be too much though.
i'd love to see an indoor gaa stadium built, it would need to be accessable to as many counties as possible and could be used every winter sunday for the 'big' nfl game of the day. you'd get decent crowds and a great athmosphere if the facitities are right and have it live on telly. it would be great promotion instead of watching games in the mud and rain in front of a few thousand as we have now

dont brocagh have something similar? i remember playing schools hurling there and was a nitemare wen the ball hit the wires
it might have an inflated roof like the pool at the olympics
that would allow it to be built to almost any height
They are also going to have sound effects and visual effect so that it will look like you are playing in any major ground in the country.
There will be great versions recorded of, "Come on ye boys in blue", "Hill 16 la la la", and of course the witty Dublin tune "Colm Cooper is W*nker, is a W*nker, is a w*nker" to simulate the unique sounds of the jackeens in full flow on Hill 16 (note the technology will allow for any name to be substituted so they too can experience the sounds of the Dubs abuse) and also included will be streams of simulated piss running down off the steps of the virtual reality Hill 16, Bottles of piss flying through the air will also be tested when the dubs are playing. Games with Dublin involved will start 15 minutes late to allow the 10000 get a few virtual pints in before hand. And there will be at least 2 virtual pitch invasions during every game.
Games involving Cork will be cancelled and points awarded to the opposition as they will possibly be still on strike
The wind and rain machines are the best bits though for an indoor stadium, Sound like a load of shite to me.
you forgot to add they will able to take out the seating when kerry are playing to create more space because nobody from kerry will turn up!

10k would be about the average for a Dublin NFL game.

Sounds like it alright. ;)
Seems a bit pointless, developing a gaa ground, that you cant play a game of hurling in. They should have a rethink, its seem a good idea tho!
I think this is a great development and could provide much needed scientific information on what happens in a GAA match, which should lead to major improvemnets in player preparation.
Don't know how to put pics up.

I trained in a gym with loads of scientific stuff.

I ran up mountains, punched raw meat and lifted logs.
Who wins?

Champions aren't made in gyms.
I presume that's a joke?
Yes it is.lol
I'm dead confused on here. Anytime I post a joke I put lol or ha ha after it but I was told that you shouldn't do that. So, this time I didn't and now people don't know if I'm joking or not. What the hell do you do?

Do they play hurling in DCU ?
Hurling needs to be accommodated here as well - it should be multi use -
frankie does us all a favour and f*** off permanently.
yours in sport,
Indiana.
Make me.
I was talking to a lad that works in DCU and he told me that it will only be a 1000 seater stadium - there was an error with the press release or a breakdown in communication somewhere...
