A bunch of people shouting and shoving at a protest (and stealing hats!), something that happens numerous times during any campaign.

But instead of your 2016 anecdotes, why don't you find some data that show that Republicans are unsafe campaigning in "those cities".

I live in one of those cities. Only flag on my street this year was a couple of Trump flags flown by an ignorant gobshite from Dublin who lives across the street from me (I thought he was a p***k for separate reasons way before he revealed his political leanings). He had it up until February. I guess he was concerned with stopping the steal. But no one every bothered him about it. I guess he doesn't really feel all that threatened. Neither does the strange dude who walks his dog up and down the block every day in his MAGA hat, or the Polish lad up the hill who often sported a "lock her up" t-shirt. I work in Harlem at a large institution. I've seen a few work colleagues wearing Trump masks last autumn as they came and left work, heading for the subway. Never once heard of any of them getting any trouble. And that part of NYC, including those who would be on the subway, is probably 80% Dem.

If security is a concern, you take steps to protect the candidate and staff.

By your logic, Biden can't campaign in the suburbs of Minneapolis because some header took a golf club to beat up an old couple.

But leaving that aside for a minute, are you saying you're opposed to people being appointed to run agencies and departments when they're personally opposed to the mission of those departments? You don't like "foxes guarding henhouses" as such?

If so, how did you reconcile Trump (and even Bush/Cheney going back) filling the leadership of agencies with responsibility for the environment, worker safety, consumer protection and so on with industry lobbyists and insiders who were vehemently opposed to what those agencies are supposed to do on behalf of the people.
