Mayo have gone a long way backwards and Kerry even moreso. Cork look like they are well ahead of the rest again this year but maybe Galway will challenge. Tyrone got some fine scores against Monaghan.

I watched this game tonight on TG4.
Brilliant game.
But I honestly felt sorry for Donegal who should have got at least a draw from the game.
With 50 seconds left on the clock, a Donegal player was driving through the centre and knowing that time was against Donegal, a Down defender just pulled the Donegal attacker down and hauled her to the ground. Instead of letting the play go on and allowing Donegal to take the free, the referee called back play and spent 30 seconds giving the Down player a yellow card, by which time time was up. The hooter sounded and Donegal were bate. The Donegal players were livid with the referee.
So I hope the independent time keeper is never allowed into the men's game.

MONAGHAN and Mayo are safely through to the semi-finals of the 2009 TG4 All-Ireland Ladies senior football championship, following Saturday's quarter-final double header at Ballymahon GAA club in Longford.
Last year's beaten finalists Monaghan booked their place in the last four with just a single point to spare against Connacht champions Galway, who missed a last minute penalty which would surely have won the game if converted.
Full-forward Niamh Kindlon was the scoring heroine in a 0-17 to 1-13 success, but the Farney girls were thankful to goalkeeper Linda Martin for two brilliant late saves.
Martin was at fault as Galway forward Una Carroll goaled from a speculative long-range effort in the second half made up for that with a brace of crucial stops in a dramatic finale.
Martin kept out Niamh Duggan with two minutes remaining and in the final minute, Galway full-forward Duggan saw her penalty brilliantly saved by the Donaghmoyne netminder, with Monaghan hanging on by 0-17 to 1-12.
Edel Byrne kicked five first half points as Monaghan led by 0-9 to 0-4 at half-time before Galway fought their way back, with Carroll's long-range strike deceiving Martin in the 36th minute and looping into the net.
Galway were level at 1-11 to 0-14 with ten minutes remaining but Kindlon grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck to open up a three point lead, before those dramatic final minutes.
Meanwhile, Cora Staunton's second half goal proved decisive for Mayo as the beaten Connacht finalists also advanced to the last four, on a 3-9 to 1-12 scoreline.
The lethal Staunton hit 0-12 against Laois in the qualifiers and contributed 1-5 as dogged Ulster champions Tyrone were finally seen off in a see-saw encounter at Ballymahon.
Staunton scored a superb solo goal with eight minutes remaining to hand beaten 2008 semi-finalists Mayo a 3-7 to 1-10 lead, after the sides had been level on four occasions.
Tyrone led by 1-6 to 1-3 at half-time but the Red Hands racked up eleven wides in the first half and were left to rue those misses.
Triona McNicholas netted after eleven minutes for Mayo's first score after they had fallen two points behind in the early stages, before player of the match Joline Donnelly goaled for Tyrone in the 18th minute.
Donnelly scored 1-6 for Tyrone and was unfortunate to finish on the losing side but goals won this game for Mayo as Sinéad Cafferkey struck nine minutes after half-time for her team's second goal.
Both goalkeepers showed good form in this game and Mayo netminder Yvonne Byrne performed heroics with two minutes remaining to deny Niamh McKernan a certain goal as Tyrone chased the game.
The draw for the semi-finals will be made next Saturday, following the remaining quarter-finals; Cork v Kildare and Dublin v Kerry.
Beaten 2006 All-Ireland finalists Armagh ensured that they will be playing in next year's senior championship after recording a 1-11 to 0-6 victory against Donegal in Sunday's relegation playoff.
Armagh had this game well in control by half-time as they led by 1-7 to 0-3, with Caroline O'Hanlon contributing 1-3 before the break.
O'Hanlon finished as top scorer for the Orchard County with 1-5 after adding two points in the second half.

Armagh 1-11 Donegal 0-06
Armagh Ladies secured their Senior status in the All Ireland Championship for 2010 following a comprehensive victory over Donegal on Sunday.
Niamh Hegarty opened the scoring with a great individual point but that was quickly cancelled out by a Caroline O'Hanlon free kick. Armagh dominated the early exchanges with Dervla Toal, Mags McAlinden and Laura Brown particularly influential. Points from Caroline O'Hanlon, Meabh Moriarty and Mags McAlinden saw Armagh race into a 6-3 lead. Minutes later corner forward O'Hanlon took a pass from Shauna O'Hagan and planted a cracking shot to the top right hand corner of the net. A Sinead McCleary point saw Armagh finish the half with a flourish leaving the half time score Armagh 1-07 to Donegal 0-03.
The pace of the game dropped in the second half with Donegal never really threatening to eat into Armagh's lead. Armagh played some very effective football and they always had a player available to take a pass. Caitlin Malone opened Armagh's second half scoring with a great point. Donegal briefly threatened with points from Elish Ward and Kelly Wilson but the Armagh defence stood firm. Clodagh McCann and Dervla Toal in particular thwarted numerous Donegal attacks. Any time Denise Hagan was threatened she was more than fit for what the Donegal attack could throw at her.
A brace of Caroline O'Hanlon points and a fine effort from Maria O'Donnell left the scoreline reading 1-11 to 0-06 and ensures Armagh Ladies will compete in the Senior championship next year.

I believe Cora Staunton scored 1-6 out of Mayo's 1-9. When she quits, Mayo will be nothing.
went down to Kildress yesterday afternoon to watch the Antrim Ladies football team compete in the junior All Ireland semi final against Derry. Antrim played really well for most parts of the game and came through 6 points winners with a goal at the death.
Derry pressed hard for most of the match and had chances but the Antrim girls deservedly hung on to win.
the thing that i find real strange is the lack of St Paul's players on the team. Cooper from St Paul's (who thought yesterday was the best player on show) was the only player from their club. Now St Paul's have won the Antrim Championship for the past ten years (or more) i find it strange that they have not more representation. a club man of mine is looking after the team and full credit to him and his coach (also a clubman) they have stuck at and have their day at Croke park.
have St Paul's a problem with the manager of Antrim?

Yez have a few very good players on the Antrim team, including two McCann sisters, a Moy blow-in and a former Down county player who have all helped win the Down senior championship at a canter this year for their club.
I'm prepared to get behind the Antrim women this weekend.
Nice bunch of girls!! Was talking to some of them on Tuesday
Predictions for Sunday:
Cork to hop off Dublin!
Clare to beat Fermanagh by 5 or 6 points
Antrim to win by 3
Dublin 6/1 I believe to win in Paddy Powers.
Best of luck to them. Really dislike that moniker "The Jackies" by the way. Is used by some imo in a less than endearing context.

good god man you've little to be worrying about! The Jackies name is used on the official dublin ladies website, how are you managing to be bothered about it?
Ashamed of a little flag-waving in a bygone era?
Antrim are trying their best to throw this away

And well done to Geraldine Campbell, former Down player, who got Laoch na hImeartha. Very well deserved.
Well done Antrim women. That Limerick number 14 was a tricky wee player.
