I was at the Reserve Final last night. It wasn't the best game of football or free flowing, but both teams fought tooth and nail. There was some cracking scores from both teams in the second half. Clonoe did seem to have more punch with there subs, some high calibre players coming of the bench at vital times which I think that saw clonoe through. Although ardboe had a chance at the end to level the match. Thought Ardboes defence was very good and their number 8 played well and took the game to clonoe, Rambo for clonoe played very well too, scored at vital times.
These two teams would probably push any intermediate team on last nights performance so I believe the mind set around Grade 1 Reserve championship should be given a bit more respect and attention.

This is a tricky subject, there are genuinely 4 or 5 players that tog out for reserves that are real contenders for starting place on the seniors. So this being the case. How do you put for a reserve panel for a separate league. But ideally that would be my choice as it puts a new dimension on reserve football and especially on d1 the top 5 teams could compete in d3 or d2 on any given day. A match I was involved in 5/6 years ago reserve quarter final between ardboe and errigle.. Was a awesome game to watch and play in. 80% who played that day for both teams have had seasons on their senior teams.
Seperate leagues  would be a great idea but for those 4/5 players pushing on May play less football and then go backwards if they were only allowed to play seniors.

Very true. Think there could be a few reasons for that, senior game is a lot more intense and faster!! Another reason could be that in the reserve team they are the go to men, while in the senior match they are fringe players. Egos etc around the senior team could also be off putting.
A lot of football is confidence based, if this is knocked forget about it.

CLonoe definitely set the pace in the reserve league and championship. Good settled team. Ardboe seem to be there or thereabouts. Team changes frequently due to lads pushing for seniors etc. We had a decent win against moortown y.day. But few lads just back training and from injury so too early to say about them being  contenders.

Just thought I'd introduce a new thread for reserve football as it plays a big part in our club game. many reserve players may also appreciate putting their opinions across regarding their club, respective league and championship matches. . post way and enjoy!!

Jesus. what is going on here with club ftball. not only has the championship been run of in a month. under 16s are still playing, minors final is still to be played. reserve championship still to be played. it is the middle of october and minors and below should be finished before now irrespective of how tyrone does. they should concentrating on school and college ftball and slagging of each others club of at school. and 3 rds of senior league to be played yet which 90% of them wont be forefilled then  league semis final and promotion and relegation play offs. So we are looking at nov december desiders when pitches are in there best condition for finals and important games. Now many lads are playing all year but many dont mind but its the lads who work hard. have families etc need a break to awitch of for a while and recharge the batteries. i personally dont mind as it gets me outa the house in the evenings but i no many who are fed up with ftball now after training flat out from xmas. ftball gas changed now. pressure is on lads to be there at training matches 4/5/6 times a week. its like another job just to achieve somthing in a short playing career.
On the other hand. congratulations to clonoe on their 8th tittle. played their system extremely well

Ardboe had a good win against county champions Errigal Ciaran after a disappointing result but decent performance against dromore last week.
Few surprising results there today,  augher beating donaghmore after donaghmores good result last week and clonoe being toppled by carrickmore at home.
the rest of the results were fairly predictable.
