What is going on with Brackaville???

Been in junior football a god bit in last 20 years. Don't know stats but I think they won junior championship in 2012 after being in junior for 10 years or before hand.
Another decent set up. Not sure about youth think their under 13s were in grade 4 this year anyway

Who would win between Fintona v Brackaville

Drumragh v Derrytresk was a poor game of football and lacked intensity for a championship match.

Okay, I see the near-annual "WTF are Fintona doing?" posts are back again.

Firstly, these are only my views and not that of Fintona as a club.

In terms of adult players, it's actually a bit of a struggle at the moment for various reasons. While all clubs will have issues to some extent the general age group of our players is a bit worrying, that can only be rectified through time. We've been missing Peter McGlinn & Paul Martin for most of this year through injury, Aaron McCarney is still out in Australia, none of the McCanns have played for us this year etc. and it wasn't too long ago we had issues with numbers at youth level (mentioned more below). Someone mentioned Fintona Swifts - there's very little overlap in personnel between the two these days, a few former Fintona Gaelic players have thrown their lot in with the soccer for the time being. That's their choice, which I'd somewhat argue is down to the scheduling of club fixtures over the years being haphazard compared to the Fermanagh & Western league structure, and good luck to them. You can take horses to water but you can't make them drink. As it is, our senior performance this year has actually been an improvement from 2020 where we didn't pick up a single win in the league.

At youth level, it's only within the last handful of years or less that we're now starting to see ourselves being able to compete at the higher grades of youth football in Tyrone. This year our U13's did very well for themselves reaching two Grade 1 semi finals, the U15's did OK in Grade 1 while the minors reached their Grade 2 league semi final. Unfortunately we had to pull out of the U19 league without playing any games though our experience was far from unique and I'd say the county board will be needing to review competitions at age ranges between minor and adult competition. But it wasn't too long ago that we were struggling at youth level, back in the mid 2010's our youth teams were in grades 3 & 4 with some ties having to be forfeited as we couldn't even get 13 players out for them. Hopefully those days are gone for the foreseeable future and that many of our current youth crop will step up to play at senior & reserve levels in the near future - but getting promoted out of Junior football is not an easy experience.

Also worth mentioning that we've now got some underage hurling activity going on at the moment as well, we're fielding competitive teams at U13 and U15 levels with the Tyrone leagues just starting and both having played in the Tain Og competitions earlier this year - the U15 had an enjoyable game against Mayo's Ballina last Sunday.
Fintona doing gray work at the hurling, hopefully it will push on through to Senior level in a few years. Do you think it complements or hinders the football?

We had some great tussles with Fintona back in the noughties. I don't think it would take much to turn them around and they'll be back sooner rather than later.

Yes looking very like it. We weren't great today again although dunganon hit a goal late on therefore the scoreline flatters them a bit. We had a man Sent off 15mins in which didn't help our cause.

We do have eglish and derrylaughan still to play which are must wins as well as moy, loughmacrory, Omagh and ardboe.

All three played today but being honest we're no better than what we were without them.

Under Lights, lost 2 games this year...one to covid ( v Moy) and one against Dungannon in 2nd or 3rd round. Tipping along nicely, held Galbally scoreless from play outside of an early goal that slipped through to the net following a goal mouth scramble from long ball in.
