Finally a point that Biden agrees with Trump, getting out of Afghanistan. The Trump administration tried started the process with a peace deal, could they have done better - Possibly, could they have done worse - possibly.
Should Trump have left more troops there, maybe. Could Biden have brought in 1K or 2K troops to help the exit, maybe.

Everyone is so blinded by blaming the other side that no one see's the innocent people that are being hurt by all of this.

300000 Afghan Army troops against 70,000 Taliban and they folded in less than a week

The Rethuglicans will now try to score political points out of denouncing a policy that they supported not so long ago.

Always keep your receipts:

Trump negotiated Baradar's release from a Pakistani prison in 2018. He met Pompeo in a meeting which Trump described as a "very good meeting with similar goals." He's on course to be the next president of Afghanistan.

Ahh.....FFS. Now Joe is sending troops back to Afghanistan

What a cluster

Well, on the bright side at least Saddam is gone, I guess.

Have the US anything else to show for twenty years, billions of dollars, and hundreds of thousands dead in the Middle East?

Nope. 20 years spending $2 trillion building up an Afghan army that folded in a couple of days and offered no resistance.

It'll take decades to undo the damage done by GW Bush in Afghanistan alone, to say nothing of the Iraq clusterf**k. Trying to impose democracy at gunpoint has been a failure. It's up to the people who live in these countries to defeat the hateful virus of Islamic extremism.

According to this article, the "no resistance" and deal making amongst rival groups is a feature of Afghan conflicts about which the US should have been well aware, but for whatever reason, were not.

Thats a good insight in to why this has happened so quickly.

As long as the oil and weapons moguls made their money that's all that matters in Washington at the end of the day. They wanted Syria and Iran too but they'll have another try at those in the decades to come.

The Red and Blue party finger pointing is just shadows on the wall of the cave. The Afghan army was likely full of Taliban sympathizers and infiltrators. It was never going to go any other way.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

That wasn't good yeah Trump and Afghanistan deserve their fair share of blame but he's bungled this over the past 2 months and should have acknowledged that!

How could he not go back on any deal Trump made he's had executive order after executive order changing his policy decisions since he came into power .

Do you want the continued American presence in Afghanistan?
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

He didn't take one question and left to go back on his vacation after the press conference was over

Friendly reminder that when Trump invited the Taliban over to Camp David for a terrorist sleepover on 9/11 (whereupon Fox News would have lost their goddamn minds if a Dem president had done it), John Bolton called it the stupidest BS he'd seen in his life. Trump then fired Bolton.
