The answer and it's the unpopular answer to solve most of the issues within West Belfast is to reduce the number of clubs

5 West Belfast teams would be enough

One serving the whiterock down

One between mid falls and Kennedy way

Kennedy way to Shaws

Shaws to Suffolk

Suffolk to Lisburn

You'd have huge numbers under age, better quality coaching, greater use of limited facilities,  better resource management/development etc etc
There's little to no logic to having as many clubs beyond what can only be considered historical ties/ego

West Belfast will be lucky to see another senior hurling championship for a generation  and the days of football being a city dominated game is well and truly gone never to return to West Belfast again. Might win the odd one here and there, that's all

If Belfast Gael's wanted to develop and make the city a GAA hot bed.... They need to change

Laois / Re: Underage squads 2024

Folks.

I had previously spent a time with a squad and one of my friend was an academy manager .
The conversation and experience i had almost completely turned me any intrest in my county. I take my friends example he was involved in a development hurling squad.  They put in a great effort.  Put there personal money into purchasing things like engery drinks, slitors ,physiotherapist ect paid out of the management teams pocket not laois gaa. Built the panel up to a great level and a achieved great success then simply just dropped when it came to minor level ,i had spoken with parents of this squad who were in tears telling me how all they wanted was for the management team to stay on.  A new management team brought in that haven't a clue in what they are doing or any experience with that bunch of kids.
he and I had don't have kids of the age of academy we were coaching

And we wonder why we might struggle to get good people involved.?

The clubs  don't help certain clubs send in all players of the age in for trials with a view of getting  as many as possible on to the squad.

There is parents  involved  and they make sure that there kids stay involved.  I got so pissed off of laois lack of interest  in the squad and seen how the older squad management  are treated I just had enough and threw in the towel.
Laois simply want to tick a box to statify  certain people  that we have accmedy structure. Laois gaa don't give a shite about the squad. This is my personal  experience. Shane keegan  has not helped in fact I would now view that his predecessor in fact done a much better job. If we wanted someone to talk or do a podcast contact shane but to change and improve i won't be shane.

Quote from: omagh_gael on July 01, 2025, 10:07:57 PMKerry went hard at the emotional angle against Armagh. It was genuine and authentic. Very hard to replicate that level of emotional intensity the next day out.

If we get a fast start and the Kerry shot accuracy is around 50-60% then we have a chance.

Were huge underdogs but that's the way we like it.
I give Tyrone every chance. Kerry had as close to perfect a second half as I've ever seen. Very unlikely they'll repeat that.

We got it tactically wrong on kickouts, defensively and were just second to every break ball which I've never known us to be as poor at. Tyrone will learn from that I'm sure and have a plan for O'Shea and Paudie Clifford, David you just need to hope for the best and try to limit the supply.

Coming from Derry that's priceless after the last 18 months  :D

You'll have to look a little closer to home re the post above

Quote from: thejuice on July 01, 2025, 09:40:37 PMYeah. Shouldn't have been allowed near the GAA ticket sales. GAA have their own broadcasting platform in GAAplus. Time they got their own ticket sales system and cut the Ticketbastards out.

Totally agree. It's a shambles
