good sporting game yesterday with ogs dominating the first half and harps taking control in the second. the goals were the vital ingredient to get the harps over the line. two well matched teams as they have shown on numerous occassions. congradulations harps but we havent gone away you know. the secret for both clubs is to get these minors intergrated into the seniors and stop them drifting away which has been a problem particularily for the harps im sure you would agree Rufus. WELL DONE BOTH TEAMS

Well done to the Harps, their record at this level is top drawer, the question is now though can it be translated to the seniors.  I remember chats on the old board I would have had with Rufus and Benny in particular about how long our success would last.  The consensus among non Cross posters was that the Harps and Ogs would start taking championships off us once the Twins etc retired.  With only really Oisin left(Hearty being keeper doesn't really count) and Oisin only playing a but part role this year, do people still feel like that given the performances we have produced this year?  I am not being smart here, I haven't seen the Harps or Ogs minors but both must be good teams.  Have they the talent to build on the senior teams to make the difference as the reality is that there is no other possible challengers to Cross at the minute.
Unfortunately our troubles are pretty easily explained- from our 2009 County Final team - 9 or 10 0f them are gone, think there were 2 retirements, the rest a mix of players leaving for work abroad & some others just not committed.  The Mullaghbawn game this year saw us have 9 Championship debutants, so from a position of apparent strength in 2009 we were immediately forced into a rebuilding programme and fair play to Bronco and his team for having the balls to take it on and try to develop the youth rather than play it safe for short term results and personal gain.  I felt the Cross game this year showed both our potential and how far we have to go, we are an extremely young team and hopefully we can integrate more young lads, gain experience and become a real force again.    Cross are so far ahead in preparation and attitude in comparison to ourselves (and all bar the Ogs IMO), if we could get that right first of all we have extremely solid foundations to build on.

Good luck to the minors tomorrow, up against it by all accounts but they'll give it everything for sure. Na Clairsigh Abu

ARMAGH HARPS GFC

Dear Parent/Guardian

A specific programme of skills and activities called Gaelic Start has been developed for underage children (Primary One and Two) with the emphasis on introducing boys and girls to all Gaelic games in a FUN way.

Armagh Harps intend to run this programme over the next couple of months and we would like to invite you along to an information night on Thursday 19 January from 6pm – 7pm in Lisanally Centre (87, Lisanally Lane, Armagh).

The programme has several benefits for the children, most notably:

   Gives children their first experience of sport in the community.
   A fun and safe environment with specially developed games and skills programmes.
   Quality coaching for younger players of all abilities.
   Improves children's agility, balance, co ordination, handling, kicking and striking skills.

The programme provides parents with the opportunity to become the child's first coach and get involved with their children's development in a FUN environment.
Please note that this session is for P1/P2 parents/guardians only and that children start the following Thursday (26th January from 6-7pm).
Look forward to seeing you on Thursday at 6pm.

Ríth 2012  is a major Irish language fundraising event which will be held in March. It is a national relay run which covers as much of the island of Ireland as possible, raising awareness of the Irish language and Gaelic speaking communities. Rith 2012 is going to start in Gaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal and end in Inis Mór, Co. Galway, taking in most of the Gaeltacht communities of the West of Ireland.

The run itself takes place over 10 days and will be coming to County Armagh on Saturday 10th March.

Harps will be carrying the baton on the leg around the Mall - a distance of one kilometre. The run begins in Armagh at the Planetarium at 2.00 pm and runs down the hill to the start of the Mall, where the baton will be passed to a member of our Club. Our members will then run around the Mall and hand on the baton at Russell Street to the next sponsor, Drumarg Community Association.

Anyone from the club can run part or all of the Harps leg and we are anxious that we have as many friends and members as possible, participating in our Club colours.

This represents a great opportunity topromote our Club. Please pass the word on and invite as many people as possible. Club members should be at the Mall for 1.45 pm on Saturday 10 March in Club colours.

See you there!!

Armagh Harps will be taking part in both parades in the City on St Patricks Day this year and we would like as many of our members to take part as possible. We are splitting our youth teams up to ensure we are well represented at both parades. All members are asked to wear club colours on the day.

• U6's & U8's will take part in the morning Scouts' Parade meeting at Navan Street at 10.00am (If this parade doesn't suit, you can join in the later parade - details below). This parade will go through the City Centre, finishing at the Cathedral.  Armagh Harps will not be attending the Mass - therefore parents are asked to meet at Kearney's Filling Station, where the Harps will end the parade and from where children can be collected.
• U10's, U12'S & U14's will take part in the Afternoon Parade meeting at the Palace Stables at 2pm (If this parade doesn't suit, you can join in the morning parade details above).

A message to the harps here, in particular Mini Mc Shane- Watch out in minors this year, particularly mini. Myself and Conor Hoey, from Drumintee, will be making sure you do very little. Your days of terrorizing our defence are numbered. And Conor White, your the most over-rated player ever. Mick Martin roasted you sure. Gluck
