Yep and as pointed out previously, there are undoubtedly  hundreds of GAA loving Irish barristers who could present articulate and entertaining insights into our games. But as he's the one who happened to play the (amateur) sport at the highest level, he's the one who gets paid a hefty sum of money for doing so.

I'm still trying to work out how many degrees of separation from the game are necessary before he agrees and it is okay to profit from the game.

I'm not Brolly's biggest fan and disagree with many of his points of view but I've seen it noted in various places previously that he donates his Sunday Game & newspaper fees to charity.

If it were true Brolly would make sure it was well known!

It is widely known that this is the case and that he never charges for appearances at Club's either I'm prettu sure it was mentioned on the sportsjoe.ie podcast he was on.

He's a barrister sure what difference would 500 quid a few weeks of the year make to him for his RTE gig or for writing his column? I'm pretty sure he's in it for the notoriety more so than the money.

How do you know it's widely known?
I have read where Brolly states that he never charges for appearances at club events etc but never have head him or read where he said that he donates his RTE fee to charity.
Perhaps you could throw up a link?

Aye must've got a fair few quid for the kidney as well and all the work he does lobbying for CF sufferers to name a couple . The huer needs stopped in his tracks!  ::)

I agree with much of what Joe says and Cooper had this coming to him for telling porky pies on the Late Late Show... but of course Joe gets paid for RTE work. Like why wouldn't he? Being a sports pundit is not an amateur sport like say... Gaelic football

To be fair, he doesn't do it for the money. He's a barrister. He wants to have his opinion heard. That's all. He loves publicity.

Rhode will win Leinster.  :o

If they make the final they woulf have to be fancied. Just have to beat Portlaoise, Moorefield and more than likely Vincents/Ballymun to get there.
After watching the county final, maybe not.

the promenade in Tramore will be relocated to Ballyfore.
Might jump ship to Edenderry 8)  ;D
Tbf couldn't blame Brady. Couldn't expect to play junior B and be on a county panel. A pity, nonetheless.

Any idea when these fixture dates are normally released?
Draft plan not released yet.
Sunday April 1st for the Allianz Football League final, and Sunday April 15th for the Allianz Hurling League final. This will mean an earlier start to the football league, the intention being to free up April completely for club fixtures, with the exception of the hurling league final.
Educated guess would so the only difference from the 2017 NFL is there will be no 2 week gap between round 2 and 3.

Round 1 Feb 3rd/4th
Round 2 Feb 10th/11th
Round 3 Feb 17th/18th
Round 4 Feb 24th/25th
Round 5 March 3rd/4th
Round 6 March 10th/11th
round 7 March 24th/25th

4 football Finals March 31st/April 1st

March 17th weekend to be left free for the Club All Ireland finals

Maybe a bit off topic but does anyone know what date the all ireland football final is next year???

Already there's some uncertainty surrounding the date of the All-Ireland football final; in the draft fixture calendar, it's pencilled in for Sunday August 26th – after congress earlier this year agreed both the hurling and football finals would be played in August on a three-year trial basis.

However, given the visit of Pope Francis to Ireland next August, the 2018 football final is likely to be put back to Sunday September 2nd. Part of the problem here is that the Pope doesn't usually confirm his schedule until six months in advance, but he is expected to attend at least two of the events surrounding the World Meeting of Families, due to be held here between August 21-26th, including a Mass in Croke Park on that Sunday, August 26th.

Surprised to see the neighbours Kilmaine beaten in the Mayo junior final at the weekend.
The Galway junior representatives in Connacht this year will be the weakest in a long time.
Neither has much of a chance of winning it.

Clonbur have Declan Kyne.
I don't know of anyone who has ever played for Gabriel's

But he ghost-wrote Dónal óg's book.
Dónal óg willingly put his name to it.
Ewan McKenna said it on twitter.
