Derry must have given up 2-05 directly from turnovers, they have too many forwards whose first inclination is to have a wee solo which resulted in them getting outmuscled in the tackle time after time. This was a clear problem in the donegal game [first game I seen so was probably an issue in previous matches] and should have been remedied before the final.

They should also have started their strongest team and this would have been a comfortable win!!!!

Of course it plays a part in sport. I've never said it didn't.

My point is and was that the "product on the table" you're sitting at home watching on TV today compared to 20 or 30 or 40 years ago has barely changed at all, other than for the actual standard of it going up. Admittedly you can see the table considerably more clearly since they stopped them smoking.

If your argument is "snooker is shit these days because Kyren Wilsen doesn't eat sweets with fans" I'd suggest your issue isn't with the snooker itself.

The levels of cognitive dissonance here are off the charts

Clearly that's nothing to do with your personality though gallsman

You're just good at it and trying to win

I don't think you know what all those words mean. Wouldn't be a first for you though, so at least that's absolutely in line with your personality.

Some bit of crowbarring to get that one in gallsman

Mine was nicer

Anyway, just to clear it up - does the personality of the competitors play no part in any sport, or is it just snooker?

I have absolutely no idea why he does "no look" shots whatsoever. I don't think it's in any way famously a regular feature of his game.

He plays the underarm shot because he (in)famously prefers it to using the rest or the spider. Again, he's trying to win.

Not sure what the issue is. I just assumed Ruairi McCullagh overtook him and he was dropped.

Quote from: Look-Up! on Today at 09:42:31 AMWhat's people's take on Chelsea and Pochettino? Gets a very easy ride from the press compared to Utd, although if they win tonight they'll only be 3 points behind them.

With that squad though, surely they should be contenders. If they have everyone fit next year, a good manager should be at least competing for CL, and if City regress, a title. If they can't, you'd imagine huge financial implications are coming down the line.
They definitely worked their socks off in that last game against Villa.

Quote from: square_ball on Today at 10:03:22 AMThat was a hell of a score by Conor Owens for the equaliser. Seems to have fallen down the pecking order but to come on and do that when the pressues was on was superb.
Is he carrying an injury or what or why was he not starting?

Quote from: gallsman on Today at 10:18:04 AMChrist on a f**king bike. He takes on long pots because he's famously good at them, having worked on them for decades and reckons he has a more than reasonable chance of making the shot. He's trying to win.

He doesn't take them on for a laugh, or to see how it goes, or to give the crowd something to cheer about because he's a bit of a lad.

Other players are just as famously good at long pots, but don't take tehm on as readily as Williams does. That's a matter of personality.

But tell me this, does he totally unncessarily sometimes take shots with his eyes closed, or underarm, or with his head turned away, purely because he's just good at such shots, or could it possibly be that he does so because he is also a bit of an entertainer, would you say?
