Load of balls? Only for simpletons?

This wife's hairdresser told her to treat a wart on the young fellas hand by cutting a potato into quarters, rubbing the potato on the wart, driving to a crossroads and then throwing each quarter up each road at the crossroads.  :o

I think we'll just get it burned off at the surgery!

General discussion / Payment options via phone
September 24, 2020, 07:03:40 PM
Weans are back to school and they do a lot of fannying about after school between gym and training etc. Always yapping about no money for food etc. (we are a cashless house in general!) so anyone know the best option to allow them to use their phone to pay. I don't want to load my card on for obvious reasons  :D but surely there is something I could top up which means even if they haven't cash they can pay via contactless. Opening their own account the best option?

Anyone on here travelling south over the border for work? I'm considering taking on contract work in the south and continuing to live in the north. I have been told a different story by 2 accountants about the tax burdens etc. whilst operating as "a company". Anyone got the actual FACTS on the most tax efficient means of operating or recommend an accountant who knows?! I would have thought this would be simple as I'm sure it's a well trodden path.

General discussion / Your Ulster/Irish/British Fry

Fella in work says a hash brown is the best part of a fry.  ??? A lot of people have very different ideas on what is in a proper fry. They are almost all wrong.

Bacon and sausages are mandatory.

Select away!

Driving down to Athlone yesterday and the country looks brilliant now it's awash with thorn bushes in full bloom. On the way I drove past a wee place called Carrickedmond (not sure of the county!) and the GAA pitch was absolutely packed with young kids fully kitted out. Does the heart good.

A few photos of women in yoga pants would do the heart good too  ;)

General discussion / Pubs in New York
August 08, 2015, 12:17:24 AM
I know there is a New York thread with pubs mentioned but it's an old one.

Suggestions for Manhattan only as will only be there from Friday PM to Sunday PM and will be doing the sights with another fella from work. I have been before (pre-9/11) and have done most of it so I wouldn't mind keeping myself refreshed on the Friday and Saturday nights and possibly the odd one during the day. We are staying in some f**king pod hotel on E 51st and by the looks of it you couldn't even get a cat into it never mind swing it.

General discussion / Nuclear Power in Ireland
April 03, 2013, 11:13:28 PM
With all Lawnseed's proposals for renewable energy, employment prospects and rocketing energy prices, is there, or will there ever be, an appetite for nuclear power on these shores?

General discussion / Youview

Anyone got one of these Youview boxes? Thinking of pulling the plug on Sky as when I looked closely, other than kids watching the cartoon channels, we don't watch many channels that aren't available elsewhere.

Youview seems to be a similar yoke for ~£12.50 a month.
Interested in opinions.

What do youse make of the decision today to refuse this guy the right to die?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-19249680

A man paralysed from the neck down has lost his High Court case to allow doctors to end his life without fear of prosecution.

Tony Nicklinson, 58, from Melksham, Wiltshire, communicates by blinking and has described his life as a "living nightmare" since a stroke in 2005.

Mr Nicklinson said he would appeal against the decision.

The case went further than previous challenges to the law in England and Wales on assisted suicide and murder.

Another man, known only as Martin, who is 47, also lost his case to end his life with medical help.

'Misery'
Father-of-two Mr Nicklinson was left paralysed with locked-in syndrome after a catastrophic stroke while on a business trip to Athens.

He said he was "devastated" by the court's decision.
