Hopefully the extra strength of the squad will be proven over the next couple of games.

A Mario hattrick wouldn't hurt either!

You see players now with hands in the air as a player runs past just to make it clear they are not interfering with the run.

You say it like it's a good thing.

It is. It encourages running off the ball and a quicker game. If it cuts out cowardly checks designed to take out a player who's concentrating on getting a return pass or supporting an attack I'm all for it.

What's your problem with it?

It has definitely got rid of the 3rd man body check that was becoming a real issue in the game. You see players now with hands in the air as a player runs past just to make it clear they are not interfering with the run.

All in all I think it has worked well but like every rule the referees need to be consistent. People might disagree with how the rule is applied butas long as it's consistently applied players know what to expect.

All about the three points today. Not an easy place to go.

Just watched the episode of Moone Boy where they focus on the world cup of 1990 and Ireland's run. Funny show and some of the actual footage of the homecoming and the bars during the matches is hilarious! Slim.chance of a repeat in the short term unfortunately

4 trophies??

Technically still in both cups, you wouldn't bet against 5-0 at Old Trafford. Could still win the league, failing that 4th place is now as good as any trophy and probably worth more in terms of £££s.

You might want to check the draw for the 3rd round of the League cup....

and I'm still confused as to what the 4th trophy is??

Two wonderful games this weekend.

Donegal were fantastic, breaking at speed and always supporting their teammates. BIg shock but you have to think they will go in as favourites now for the Final.

Gerrard been poor. Passing way off today. Sakho and lovren not looking too solid either

Yeah thats preety good. Basle are no pushover as we have found out in the past but overall its about as good as you could hope for.

Pity Xabi is away, he would have got some reception at Anfield!

Maanged to do mine online a couple of weeks ago. Reminder that the DVLNI send out  is useless as it does not have the correct refrence but if you have your log book you should be fine.

This proves what a super manager Ferguson really was. Ok you can say that players were coming to the end of their tethers etc etc but he got them to win the league and the following year Moyes couldn't do a hate with them.

He was unequalled at getting the best out of the players he had. However, he has left the team in a bad state due to his stubborness in the transfer market so certainly not a flawless manager. He brought great success, eventually, but left the team as he found it.

Is this a general sentiment among United fans? How much blame do they place at Fergie's door for the current problems?

To my mind he has to carry a lot of the blame. While there is no questioning his ability to get the best out of players, (his last title with that group of players proved that,) the deficiencies at the heart of United's midfield have been obvious for years and he did not address it. His solution for the centre of defence post Vidic and Ferdinand is also debateable to say the least.

Been thinking about the match and bottom line is fair play to City. Better where it counted, quite happy to let Liverpool play in front of them.

A few observations , I'm worried that Couthinho does not seem tgo be able to carry his pre-season form into the premierl eague. Subsituted both games so far after limited impact. The passes just dont seem to be coming off.

We looked a lot more dangerous in both games so far with Lambert on. Dont know if thats because he gives something different or more likely we need to play with two strikers. Mario and Sturridge up front together mean we loose either Couthino or Sterling.

Defence looks more solid overall but is still prone to individual mistakes, particularly a failure to track runs from midfield. I'm not sure we have an answer to that with the current personnel. Mascherano a la 2009 would be ideal.

Anyway, not going to get too disheartened. I do not think many teams will take points from the Etihad but the Spurs game becomes an important one. Need at least a draw.

And lastly, we are still 3 points up on the same matches last year so on course for the title!  ;) ;)

Maybe its just that I have seen a few incidents in the last few weeks. Saw the Stevie J incident, Bartel had a Swallow dive in the match at the weekend and I think it was Lindsay Thomas who got a hard time a couple of weeks ago.

It is possibly the ducking the head thing that is throwing up more examples of high contac where no frees are being paid. Really hope that it does nt creep into the game like it has in the GAA over the last decade.

Anything that.keeps Willie occupied and gives him something.to worry about other than Italian flegs on primary schools is a good thing. Now if we could find someone to keep Galloway occupied as well we could be onto something.

City much more clinical up.front. Liverpool high line has cost them a couple of times.
